We’re United Way of Northern California—a proud part of the United Way Worldwide network with a unique focus on the North State. Since 1953, we’ve been dedicated to meeting the specific needs of our communities. Here’s a snapshot of what we do: 📝 Free Tax Assistance: Through our VITA program, we prepared over 800 free returns for low-to-moderate-income families last year. 🚨 Disaster Relief: Supporting neighbors through emergencies, like the 453 households we assisted after the Park Fire this year. 📞 211 NorCal Helpline: A 24/7 helpline with over 90,000 calls answered, connecting people to 1,800+ programs. 📣 North State Equity Fund: Granting funds to grassroots organizations driving equity and social justice. 🏠 Supporting the Unhoused: Our South Market Micro Shelter offers safe, temporary housing to help individuals regain stability. This statement carries profound meaning, urging everyone to recognize that their faith extends beyond the walls of the church and into the world around them. Just beyond church parking lots, every day presents an opportunity to embody the values of love, compassion, and service, preached within the church by Messiah’s Pastor, Mark Adrian. That the mission field is not just a distant place; it is the neighborhood, the workplace, and the community where everyday interactions occur. Each person can have influence by spreading kindness and understanding in their daily lives. For individuals leaving Messiah Lutheran’s church parking lot, embracing the idea of entering the mission field can inspire a commitment to service and compassion. It is a reminder that living out one’s faith happens every day, in every interaction. Recognizing the suffering face of Christ in all we encounter.
