The BTMI hosted "An Evening Of Cultural Connections", a reception for the International Institute of Communications (IIC) as they launched their Caribbean IIC Chapter yesterday, March 4th, 2024. This initiative presented an opportunity for industry, regulators, policymakers, users/consumers, and other stakeholders to collaborate in crafting responses to frontier technologies and future-proofing the Caribbean communications ecosystem. The Caribbean IIC Chapter aims to foster and strengthen the region's global influence and thought leadership on digital, media, and communications governance.  Speakers interrogated the implications of the proposed Single Caricom ICT regulator; explored the practicality of a unified or harmonised approach to content regulation and preservation of the region's cultural identity; and examined the gaps in generational perceptions of the impact and challenges of communications technologies in the digital age, including generative AI, privacy, responsible and trustworthy journalism, and the harms of misinformation, disinformation, and deep fakes.  The IIC Caribbean Chapter helps chart a course for a vibrant, empowering, and future-facing media and communications ecosystem in the Caribbean. #TheBTMI #TourismForward
