Great to attend The Procurement Expo yesterday. Firstly great to bump into my CIPS tutor Greg Jackson and someone I spoke to on a weekly basis in my previous role Danielle Carvell of Crown Commercial Service SO GOOD to see them! The content was great even if a fair few of the talks were oversubscribed and a ‘shut out’. Some highlights to take away: ✅ KPIs in contracts will take on even greater importance given the debarment and exclusion process. Expect a lot of litigation to test this and the bar to be rightfully high. ✅ Pre Market Engagement will continue to be one of the most important steps in any procurement process. Don’t go to market to see what is available! Engage and the market will have shape your procurement activity. We might even learn something! ✅ People will be rushing to get PINs out and ‘start’ the process under the old regime. Remember there is a transition period not a black and white start / stop date. ✅ Openness and Transparency will remain at the core. There are some innovative routes and in particular things like open frameworks. However key will be doing what you say you will (as always). ✅ The act will hopefully allow us to work in a mulch more intelligent way with SME’s and support growth through supplier development. 🤣As I overheard someone say ‘it doesn’t feel that much different there are maybe just more administrative tasks we need to do!’

𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒚 𝒃𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕...⛔ Balancing Global Category Strategy v/s Local Needs 🌍 I've observed this as a recurring challenge in my 10 years of sourcing and category management experience. This challenge is particularly significant as organizations strive to optimize their supply chains and drive value across diverse markets by implementing Global strategies. 🌐 Lately, I experienced a critical challenge when a global supplier struggled in one of the country post-rollout. ❌ Business function pushed for local suppliers, however, implementing a global strategy was paramount. With this challenge in place, we developed a Hybrid approach: Prioritizing global suppliers with local backups. With this, we didn't compromise the global strategy & we didn't completely rely on local suppliers. ⚖️ What was the Result? Smooth operations without disruption with stakeholder satisfaction. 💪 Based on this experience, here I'm sharing some insights on how to achieve the delicate balance: 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒚𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒔: Tailor strategies to local market nuances through robust analysis. 𝑼𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒆: Secure cost efficiencies and quality consistency with global contracts while respecting local needs. 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒔: Enhance agility and insights by fostering strong ties with local suppliers.
