Maximizing the strength and longevity of a composite repair system hinges on effective load transfer.    The adaptable structure of a wet lay-up composite ensures that the repair mirrors the topography of the repaired surface before curing into a hard, durable repair.     Rusty Giudici, President of Advanced FRP Systems, describes the mechanics of this relationship:   “By being in direct contact with the surface—or having our load transfer putty between the wrap and the surface—the load is effectively transferred to the wrap so that the substrate and the wrap share the load, instead of just one component being under load.”    This intimate contact between the composite wrap and the repaired surface enables effective load transfer that maximizes the strength of the system by allowing the substrate and the composite repair to work together to contain the internal stresses of the pressurized vessel.    #repair #advancedfrpsystems #carbonfiber #composites #facilitymanagement
