In such a demanding industry as construction, regular product training for employees is especially important! 👷♂️ 🗺 Our representatives from different parts of Europe met at a training center in Nadarzyn to become even more familiar with ATLAS products. Under the guidance of experts, they applied primers, finishing coats and renders from our offer. In this way, they learned about their properties and had the opportunity to test the best practices for their use. Later, group took a trip to the Deepspot diving center, where the deepest pool in Europe, made with ATLAS products, is located. 🏊♂️ It was not only an interesting educational experience, but also a great opportunity to strengthen ties and integrate. 🤝 We are glad that we could host such a large group in Poland! 😊 #buildingtogether #buildingmaterials #construction

𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 International Training (IT) CEO Brian Carney has an important message that dive professionals need to hear and take to heart if we are to reduce tech’s perceived risk profile. The fate of our cherished community is arguably in our dry-gloved hands. Shall we serve as ambassadors to our underwater world or its gladiators? Here is Carney’s proposal. What sayeth you? “I was surprised to receive an unexpected invitation from Michael Menduno, the editor-in-chief of Global Underwater Explorer’s (GUE) InDEPTH online magazine. He asked me to contribute some thoughts that met the common goal of advancing technical diving. In retrospect, his request makes perfect sense based on my years observing that GUE’s commitment to advancing Technical Diving seamlessly aligns with our brand, Technical Diving International (TDI). GUE’s openness to communication and collaborative efforts for industry betterment is undeniably inspiring. With this unique opportunity, my goal is to urge collective action to address two pressing issues in our diving industry affected by our public actions: the escalating insurance costs, and diminishing coverage options.” Read the full article in InDEPTH: https://lnkd.in/d6qMNzdf #technicaldiving #community #dive #professionals #technicaldivers #GUE #TDI #diver #safety #InDEPTH #GetDeeperIntoDiving

It’s always enlightening to witness or read other’s experiences and insights into our field of subsea exploits. Having just finished this read of “Under Pressure” by Gareth Lock MSc, it’s reminded me about the differences in personal perception of Risk Management, Personal Competence and Ability, Planning, and Situational Awareness on site. Although the case studies and examples relate to recreational / technical & exploration types of diving, the mindset of analysis which has been taken from the aviation iindustry opens many doors to check our overall thought processes. This is particularly the case when dealing with the planning and execution of high risk diving activities as industrial divers, and challenging our own thought processes and biases.

As much as it is great to challenge yourself intellectually, it is also important to challenge yourself physically. I just finished 7 days of the most technically complicated diving I’ve experienced in Cocos, Costa Rica. There were strong surface waves, ripping underwater currents, and surges on top while entering the pangas. The payoff was an opportunity to get up close and personal with hammerhead and Galapagos sharks. Three tips that helped: 1) remember your training. It’s what got you where you are, and what will get you where need to be next; 2) you always have a buddy at the very least, and usually a team to help you through; 3) remember the rules, but don’t be afraid to go out of the box if the situation calls for it.

Another shout-out, this time to Edd Stockdale at the Finnish Scientific Diving Academy. Those who go through the Scientific Diver course there undertake the Essentials of Human Factors course, and, where possible, a two-day HF course too. Until recently, including HF has been at the operational level (Essentials, practical application during courses), and now he's managed to get something in at the policy level. These screengrabs are from a video he sent me this morning. "We can't do this, it's too difficult." - something I hear on many occasions. If you're committed as a leader to making a difference, then you will find a way to make change happen. Much like Brent Webb is doing with Scuba Adventures, Plano, TX and Lars Bosman is doing in Bonaire, and Divewise and Techwise are doing in Malta. Edd has made use of Andrzej Górnicki and Beatrice Rivoira to deliver F2F training. If you're in the #scientificdiving space, get in touch. We've got two 'The Human Diver' instructors who are DSOs, one more in the pipeline, and one getting requalified later this year. If you want to get this out there, consider sharing this post with your own scientific diving communities.
