#Technology #RFID An RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag is a small electronic device used to store and transmit data wirelessly. It contains a microchip and an antenna that allows it to communicate with an RFID reader using radio waves. RFID tags are commonly used for tracking and identification purposes across various industries, such as inventory management, logistics, security, and even in contactless payment systems. There are two main types of RFID tags: Passive RFID tags: These tags do not have an internal power source; they rely on the energy transmitted by the RFID reader to activate and send back data. Active RFID tags: These tags have their own power source (usually a small battery), allowing them to transmit data over longer distances and store more complex data than passive tags. The benefits of RFID tags include their ability to be read from a distance, the capacity to store and update information in real-time, and the fact that they don’t require line-of-sight to be read (unlike barcodes).
