The need to shape the digital market place, in order to foster inclusivity and ensure that the benefits of the digital economy are shared equitably is gaining prominence. Governments and regulatory bodies are increasingly recognizing the importance of digital inclusion by developing initiatives focused on reducing the digital divide and ensuring equitable access to digital technologies, especially in underserved and rural areas.   Hence, the emergence of market-enabling regulation to bring an end to conventional regulatory models. Some key roles market-enabling regulations play in fostering the attainment of an inclusive digital economy are: • Adaptive Framework for Technological Evolution • Inclusivity as a Guiding Principle • Individuals and Businesses Empowerment • Encouraging Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship • Agile Responses to Innovation and Emerging Technologies.   As reported by the International Telecommunications Union (2021), there is an urgent need to initiate regulatory interventions to dismantle barriers like outdated regulatory frameworks, limited infrastructure, inadequate connectivity, and affordability issues, hindering equal access to digital technologies for all citizens.   In our latest publication, we wrote about Fostering an Inclusive Digital Economy through Market-Enabling Regulations. Continuing our series from the INSEAD #Africa #Business Conference where our CEO Isabelle was on the panel discussing 'Solving Africa’s challenges with #AI: From Healthcare to Agriculture, Unleashing the Power of #Innovation"... Today we are thrilled to share her response to one of our favorite questions from the audience that addressed a critical issue for #HealthTech companies working across borders: How should companies approach #dataprotection, especially in countries where #regulations vary or lag behind? This was a great question, which Isabelle jumped at the opportunity to answer first. In her response, she shared insights that reflect the core of MTS’s approach to data protection and #governance. Here are three key takeaways from her reflections: FUTURE-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP #Leadership in tech must look ahead, not just to today’s needs but to tomorrow’s demands. Isabelle emphasized the importance of “future casting” to guide the organization and ensure readiness for emerging challenges. This future-driven approach means constantly aligning product and compliance strategies with anticipated global standards, especially in regulated markets. PROACTIVE COMPLIANCE WITH DATA SECURITY & PRIVACY Isabelle highlighted that at MTS, it’s not enough to meet the regulations in place today, especially in AI, where standards often lag behind. MTS actively seeks input from industry advisors who are closely involved in global regulatory discussions, with their expertise providing us with insights into upcoming changes, allowing #MedTechSolutions to stay ahead in #datasecurity and #dataprivacy compliance, avoid disruptions, and ensure that we protect patient data as we expand. VALUES-BASED EXECUTION Isabelle laboured on a point that is very close to her heart - #valuesbasedleadership, which is foundational both to her, and to #MTS. At every level, from #vision to execution, we ensure alignment between our company’s mission and the high standards we hold ourselves to. As Isabelle shared, the #values of the #leaders set the tone for the entire organization. At MTS, this translates into an hard commitment to preserving data security and patient trust. Can Digital Transformation Close the Global Growth Gap? This was the question addressed at Milken Institute's recent 27th annual Global Conference by a panel of esteemed speakers including Quona Capital's co-founder and managing partner Monica Brand Engel. Monica noted that "Quona are at the first inning of where digital transformation will be played," and explained that part of this is driven by young digitally native populations that make up the demographic trends across several key markets globally...but also the regulatory and infrastructure models being established such as in countries like #India and #Brazil.
