#Lithuania’s 🇱🇹 Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, debated the future of #EU 🇪🇺 enlargement with European Parliament's MEPs on the Committee on Foreign Affairs. In his speech, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy also emphasized that the EU enlargement was an important investment into security, stability and peace. Landsbergis also drew ➡️ the attention of MEPs to the fact that the EU enlargement was once again becoming a moving target and a tool for some of the EU member states, or their political actors, to solve their outstanding bilateral issues with candidate countries. 💬 “The enlargement process should be objective and merit-based. We must be objective while pursuing it. The first issue is that new “homework” elements are being added on the way, and some old “skeletons” reappear repeatedly and are being brought to daylight at the very last minute. It resembles blackmail, despite Ukraine’s openness to solve objectively existing issues,” said Landsbergis. Watch the full remarks of the Foreign Minister - link below in the comments. Exploring the Visegrad Group countries' historical, cultural and diplomatic relations towards Albania ================================= The Visegrad Group's assessment of the European Union for the Western Balkans, including Albania, reflects a complex interplay of historical, cultural, and political dynamics. As the author of three books exploring Albanian-Polish, Albanian-Czech, and Albanian-Slovakian relations through the centuries , I have delved into the intricacies of these connections. The Visegrad countries, comprising Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, share a common historical legacy marked by transitions from communist rule to democratic governance. Their collective perspective on EU enlargement to the Western Balkans is informed by experiences of integration, governance reforms, and regional cooperation. Within this context, my books provide valuable insights into the rich tapestry of interactions between Albania and the Visegrad nations, offering a nuanced understanding of the factors shaping their contemporary relations within the broader European framework. Albanian-Hungarian relations is in the process of writing. The three other books published are part of the libraries of respective Foreign Ministries and a valuable bibliography for the diplomats of the respective countries.

Awesome, this is a great team in Internatinoal Relations. The GNU gives me great hope for SA Inc.’s economic growth, a positive impact on its people & a conducive business environment for job creation. I am reminded of pre 1994, just before the historic 1st democratic elections, GDP growth in 1989 was 2.4% & plummeted to -0.3%, -1% & -2.1% in 1990, 1991 & 1992 respectively. GDP growth started rebounding to 1.2%, 3.2%, 3.1% & 4.3% in 1993, 1994, 1995 & 1996 respectively according to data from the World Bank. An Economist said, a South Africa growing @ 4-5% in GDP per annum is different from one growing @ 1% per annum as unemployment drops, crime levels plummet, SA Inc. becomes an attractive investment + tourist destination and the mood becomes one of optimism & positivity. I am personally full of hope & optimism that SA Inc. has turned the corner & is fast creating a business friendly environment where 4-5% GDP growth will be possible.
