During this weekend there will be quite a few extremes occurring across Europe! Not only the previously mentioned high temperatures, but also strong winds in western Europe due to Storm Kathleen.
The storm will dissipate to the north through Monday, but above normal temperatures will linger in eastern Europe in particular through next week.
Below shows EC Ensemble Average Extreme Index compared to the climate normal for 00h Sat to 00h Sun. Green - high precipitation anomaly, purple - high wind gust anomaly, orange - high temperature anomaly

What is we put on a sweater instead of turning the thermostat up?
Or grabbed a blanket, or maybe both.
How much electricity and natural (methane) gas could we save?
How much drilling for gas and new electricity generation capacity could we avoid?
Well, according to WWF-Canada:
"If every Canadian turned down their thermostat by 2 C in the cold season throughout the year, up to 10 per cent of space heating energy consumption and 4 megatons of carbon dioxide could be saved each year.
This is equivalent to taking more than
850,000 vehicles off the road or running more than 1,000 wind turbines for a year."
And that's why WWF-CANADA 🐼 🇨🇦 has been promoting an annual National Sweater Day for years.
This winter its on February 6, 2025.
But of course every cold weather day can be a sweater day.

There is no way to decarbonise district heating without some #geothermal, it will become a substantial player in heat in our cities.
A lot will need to be planned in a very short period of time and the approach depends on local resources - we need those plans to be planned well and we don't yet know what the potential is underground. We need a geothermal strategy.
Our colleague Adrian Hiel was just at "Geothermal now: bridging policy, industry, and science for a European geothermal energy strategy" at #EUSEW2024.

The #integrated#windmill#design needs to be incorporated with auto #folding#blades to the #tower and tower #structure having multiple #bends to come to fold to ground in a #PYRMID shape in small
Space … this feature to be activated when the #environmental#parameters are about to cross the design limitations of #wind#speeds… there could be slight cost increase but overall cost of transportation and saving windmill against all environmental #disasters saves the wind mills
Shouldn't we plant these huge wind turbines in such seaside area?
So many shocking pictures and losses due to Asia's Super Typhoon Yagi, including in the deaths of people and injuries, leaving over 3 million people without electricity, and collapse of many wind turbines.
Because of noise pollution from wind turbines, it is not suitable to live approximately one mile around the wind turbines. Even more the danger of possibility of these enormous structures collapsing and causing catastrophic damage to the surrounding environment.
I wonder, will the benefits of wind turbines really outweigh the costs incurred?
Is it really suitable to install wind turbines on the beach like this?

We have developed a tire-gasgenerator® that can convert tires into fuel for gas engines or turbine power generators, creating syngas devoid of sulfur and tar.
Wind turbine blades can be reused in a non-thermal microwave plasma field where the electron temperature is much higher than the generated gas temperature, including the vibrational and rotational temperature of the molecules.
In the plasma space, all complex compounds such as resins, aromatic molecules and tars are effectively degraded and separated from the inorganic glass fiber reinforcement.
Our environmental protection innovation is the application of microwave technology.
During the conversion of waste to syngas in the non-thermal microwave plasma field, the temperature of the electrons is much higher than the temperature of the generated gas, including the vibrational and rotational temperature of the molecules.
In the plasma space, all complex compounds such as resins, aromatic molecules and tars are effectively degraded and separated from the inorganic part. Plasmas contain reactive substances, especially ions, radicals or other oxidizing compounds, which can break down polluting molecules, organic particles, e.g. tar and soot.
It is excellent for the removal of heavily polluted air pollutants such as volatile organic compounds (VOC) and their fluorine-containing derivatives (FOC), the synthesis of special gases and the production of nanoparticles.
I am a manufacturer and designer in the implementation: www.gumienergia.hu
