Being an effective store manager requires a blend of leadership, organization, and customer service skills. Here are ten tips to help you excel in this role: 1. Be Kind and Fair: Treat EVERYONE the way you’d want to be treated. A little kindness goes a long way in making your store a happy place to be. 2. Know Your Stuff: Learn all about what you’re selling. It’s like knowing your own kitchen – you should be able to find and explain anything in it. 3. Take Care of Your Customers: Make your customers feel SPECIAL, like they’re guests in your home. A warm smile and a helping hand never go out of style. 4. Help Your Team Grow: Teach and guide your employees patiently. Remember, everyone starts somewhere, and your wisdom can help them flourish. 5. Keep Things Tidy: Just like keeping your house clean, a well-organized store makes everything easier to find and more pleasant to be in. 6. Nip Problems in the Bud: Handle issues quickly, whether it’s a leaky roof or a customer complaint. The sooner you address it, the less trouble it will cause. 7. Have Clear Goals: Set clear, achievable goals, like a good recipe. Everyone needs to know what they’re working toward. 8. Stay Up-to-Date: Keep an eye on what’s new and exciting in your field. one thing that always let me know I was a good General Manager was when my District Manager and my Regional Manager would wanna have sit down meetings with me and say what can we do to make you happy and satisfied and make sure you won't leave us we will do whatever it takes because we need more "RiRi's" Rihanna like you your an out going employee and does whatever it takes to get the job done your definitely one of the best I was given a raise of the amount I requested they would brag to other Districts about me saying how I would go from my store to other stores that had no GM or AM and get it back into shape quickly like deep cleaning if needed and the proper way of training employees the correct way on how to do their jobs some employees had to be terminated but were replaced and then I started working on getting the sales back up and at times even higher then the sales were before I was even sent to stores where the whole entire crew walked out because their General Manager quit so I hired a completely new crew and trained them all the proper way then we had to heavily deep clean the store then work on drastically increasing store sells while serving the customers all at the same time and yes there were times when I ran the store by myself but I never complained because that was my decision that's what I wanted to do I am so proud I have my mother's work ethic... 🚨 On the Road with the Loss Prevention Team! 🚨 As the Loss Prevention Manager/Internal Audit Manager for JYSK Germany, I'm regularly out on store visits and sometimes with my two amazing Team Leaders (Carsten SöringMartin Riemer). Together, we’re performing quality controls on the store visits conducted by our Internal Auditors. Why is this important? Ensuring the highest standards in our stores not only helps us maintain operational excellence but also enhances security and customer satisfaction.
