Huge thanks to Jacob Steubing, CFA and Gregory Hall for participating in our webinar the other week focused on pricing BESS offtake in ERCOT. So many insights from the discussion, but here are a few excerpts: “When we're looking at the expectations of load growth and the continued strong tailwinds behind solar penetration, that net load shifting should be strong. We have a bullish outlook on that, and I think that that's reflected in the RenewaFi BESS TB2 price forecast. If you move forward in the start date or if you extend the term, there's not really significant backwardation in those curves. We believe that that reflects the fairly strong fundamentals for the intrinsic value [of BESS].” - Jacob "We do look at the development risk of the asset, and we do obviously like to see a pretty high level of development and de-risking, especially if [the developer is] able to get out ahead of procuring equipment. There is consensus that these assets are easier to build...but projects that are mechanically complete can still take months and months to fully test and qualify to get up and running for the offtaker. That's probably the thing you'd want to be most aware of upfront." - Greg View the full recording here: https://lnkd.in/eHzJunJp

What a day for energy traders that Thursday was. Yes, there was a good attempt across the energy complex to push higher but the bearish market structure was maintained after all. That is a good reminder for the classic lesson: The trend is in place until there is irrefutable evidence that it has reversed. Contact me today to get a seat at the 5-week technical analysis academy starting on 30 September. This is your last chance of the year. #TTF #energytrading
