Our process involves a preliminary call between the project manager, the client, and the Service Delivery Engineer to prepare for the on-site visit. This interaction is pivotal for aligning logistics, confirming site readiness, and establishing a start time, among other details. Drawing from invaluable advice received early in my career at Dell Technologies, I was reminded that service excellence transcends merely fulfilling one's duties. It's about striving for that extra mile—exceeding expectations. With this ethos, I've incorporated a fundamental yet impactful question into our discussions: 'As potentially the first Dell representative you're meeting in person, what additional expectations do you have from this visit beyond our agreed-upon scope of work?' This approach deepens our understanding of the client's needs and conveys a genuine commitment to their satisfaction. It has consistently enhanced the client experience, irrespective of the project's complexity. I'm curious to know—what's your go-to question or strategy for reassuring your clients of your commitment and care during personal interactions? #IWork4Dell

What levels of engineers are on your team? 🤔 • An okay engineer does what's asked. • A good engineer nails what's asked. • A great engineer nails it and catches potential problems. • An awesome engineer does all that, spots hidden issues, and anticipates future challenges you haven’t thought of.

Use fewer words... Rule #1. If someone can't understand what you do in a few seconds, you're losing their attention. Engineer 1: "I'm an interdisciplinary systems architect specializing in the optimization of emergent behaviors in complex socio-technical systems. My current focus is on developing a scalable framework for quantifying the impact of stochastic perturbations on the homeostasis of dynamically evolving networks, with applications ranging from smart city infrastructure to global supply chain logistics." Engineer 2: "I'm an engineer who makes complicated systems run smoothly, whether it's a city's infrastructure or a global supply chain." We've all been in a situation where we're listening to a person explain their role and have no idea what they do after many minutes of listening. I've done it myself. So don't do it anymore. Boil it down to a simple sentence, no matter how complex your job is, so that a 5th grader can understand. You'll have better conversations. Business Example: Tony's Lawncare We expertly mow South Hills lawns. "Always on time. Always affordable. Always beautiful."
