Happy #Thanksgiving to you & your family from ours. **Thanksgiving at work be like:** 🦃 *Team meeting:* "Let's touch base before we baste." 🥧 *Deadline:* "Just like this pie, it needs to be well-rounded." 🍗 *Feedback:* "Constructive, but let’s keep it tender—no one wants a dry turkey!" 🤝 *Collaboration:* "It takes a village to roast a turkey… and to close Q4." This Thanksgiving, I'm grateful for: ✅ Colleagues who reply *before* you send the follow-up email. ✅ Clients who know what they want... or at least pretend to. ✅ Coffee. Always coffee. Here’s to teamwork, gratitude, and avoiding *real* family conference calls (aka dinner arguments). What are YOU thankful for this year—especially in the workplace? Share your thoughts and let’s celebrate the little wins together! 🍂👩💻👨💻

Watching the original Star Trek reruns is a a staple, & one episode has always stayed w/ me—the one where Kirk, Scotty, and McCoy discover Khan, a despotic leader played by the late Ricardo Montalban, who has been preserved in suspended animation from the 90s. Star Trek imagines a future where humanity has supposedly advanced in both technology & wisdom. Yet, its enlightened characters speak of Khan w/ reverence, almost idolizing his strength & defiance, despite his dangerous thirst 4 control. This admiration, despite his tyranny, seems more fitting for impulsive young men—who are drawn to "outlaw" figures. Ironically, it’s Spock, the half-Vulcan/human, who calls out this reverence as illogical. The scene hints at something deeper about American culture: a fascination w/powerful antiheroes, from Khan to pop culture icons like Scarface, Frank White & even real figures like Trump, who some perceive as fighters & antiheroes despite serious character flaws. This phenomenon feels more relevant than ever. Last night showed us just how many Americans are still drawn to “strong” leaders—leaders who may display toxic traits and views, but who they believe address their fears and frustrations. For many, voting became a release valve for feelings of alienation and disillusionment, echoing Thoreau’s words about lives of “quiet desperation.” Those voices—eager for change and fearful of being left behind in a rapidly evolving world—were loud and clear. Yet, this continued reverence for power at the expense of principles comes at a cost. Issues like illegal immigration, policies perceived as favoring an “urban elite,” and movements branded as “woke” have left many poor and working-class Americans, educated & non-college-educated alike, feeling unheard. They often rally behind someone who speaks to these concerns, even if that figure doesn’t truly serve their best interests. If he doesn’t prioritize the needs of his base, we can only imagine what that means for the rest of us. To truly progress, we need to listen to all voices—regardless of background, education, or beliefs. Only through genuine respect for each perspective can we address these deep-rooted divisions and fears. As Maya Angelou famously said, “When people show you who they are, believe them.” It’s time to move forward, not by clinging to divisive antiheroes or “strong men” built on toxic ideals, but by seeking authentic leadership that truly listens and validates legitimate concerns across communities. Only then can we work toward a future where everyone feels valued & heard. Hopefully, that leader is on the horizon, because it wasn’t 45 so I don’t expect it to be 47 either. 😂 In the meantime, we must look to that person in the mirror and work toward the change we want to see for the present & future. Keep the faith to quote ACPJ. ✊🏾 https://lnkd.in/emWwa8VR
