🔊 👏🏼 🏆 First review on the ASCENDO Immersive Audio GmbH 16" Sealed Active Subwoofer. Very pleased with the applause award 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. THE VERDICT 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Ascendo Immersive Audio's The 16 SUB is one of the most impressive subwoofers I've reviewed, regardless of budget. Surprisingly tight and agile for its size, it's not only able to bring a level of extension but a tunefulness that brings out the subtlest of bass notes in recordings. As welcome as these qualities are, they're all for nought if a subwoofer cannot produce enough visceral impact. I'm pleased to report that The 16 SUB is equally adept, providing enough blunt-force trauma to create an engrossing home cinema performance. So, despite its price tag, in this reviewer's opinion, this subwoofer is exceptionally good value and should be high on your audition list. Don't be surprised if, after doing so, you no longer feel the need to look any further. Check our new DUB40 drive unit. The big brother of the successful WI 30 series used to smoothly move objects, props and scenic pieces on flat surfaces through pre-programmed cues. Infinite constellations and wagon combinations are possible. But for moving the real big stuff we now developed the perfect modular system to combine drive units by linking frames. With the DUB40 very heavy, huge and large loads can be moved with millimeter precision up to 10 tonnes per drive. The moving audience grandstands for the famous ‘immersive musicals’ of the Studio 100 pop-up theatre Puurs Belgium are a nice illustration. Very impressive when 8 enormous galleries (209 people per stand, 28 tonnes empty weight each) smoothly glide in silence, moving left/right, back & forth, parting and seamlessly fusing around a static stage to create new sightlines. What does it mean when we say a subwoofer is INFRASONIC? Infrasonic bass is an essential part of any high-performance theater. It pressurizes the room and evokes the physical response that is intended by more movie soundtracks than you might think. True infrasonic subs are extremely hard to engineer and work in tandem with other subs in the theater to do their part, extending bass into the single Hz digits.
