Despite progress, people with disabilities still encounter barriers like high treatment costs, inaccessible transport and health facilities, stigma, and a lack of proper training for healthcare professionals on disability issues. As a consequence, their mortality rate is 10 to 20 years higher on average. It's a reminder of the work we still need to do to ensure everyone has equitable access to healthcare. Let's take a moment to reflect on the challenges faced by people with disabilities with the publication of the EESC 💙 link: https://lnkd.in/eF-smdBu... #HealthForAll #InclusionMatters Equal Treatment is a project funded by the European Union

This image hits close to home for many of us in the caregiver community, especially parents. It captures a moment we know all too well – the feeling of being left out of critical conversations that directly affect our lives and our children's futures. We advocate tirelessly, knocking on doors, trying to get a seat at the table where decisions are made. As caregiver parents, it often feels like our input is the last to be invited or considered, despite being on the frontlines every day. For families navigating disabilities, inclusion isn’t just about physical spaces; it’s about being recognized as key stakeholders. After all, our voices are essential in shaping the services, policies, and support systems our kids rely on. This image resonates because it's a reminder that we won’t stop knocking. Everyone deserves to be part of the discussion – and only when we are all present can we truly talk about disability. Here’s to breaking barriers, making real change, creating more inclusive spaces and learning every step of the way for a world where everyone can thrive—a world that’s better, brighter, equitable, inclusive, accessible, and fairer for all! 🙌🏼🧬♿️🌻 #TheCaregiverLawyer #CaregiverSupport #DisabilityInclusion #DiversityMatters #EquityMatters #AccessibilityMatters #AccommodationMatters #BeAnAlly #InclusionMatters #LessonsLearnt

The Economist comes out in July - Disability Pride Month - with a cover that is blatant ableism. And if you don't know what ableism is, it is discrimination of and social prejudice against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior. A walker is a tool that helps people walk just like a hearing aid helps people hear and glasses help people see. I am attached to an oxygen concentrator so I can get air into my lungs. Recognizing one needs to walk, hear, see, and breathe and uses aids to do so, is a sign of strength, not a sign of weakness. It IS a way to run a country. And why access to healthcare is so important. #ableism #ableismawareness #AbleismExists #DisabilityPrideMonth #healthcare #AccessToHealthcare

Persons with disabilities make up 16% of the global population. They often face barriers and are denied fair chances at accessing health services. The theme of this year's #InternationalDayofPersonswithDisabilities (December 3), is “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future”. Actively involving persons with disabilities is essential to inform more inclusive health services and activities in the community. 1moSo question, I notice you have included an image description (alt text shouldn’t be “visible”to those not using assistive technology). Do you not use the alt text field provided by social media platforms? Just trying to figure out best practices.
