This can't continue. Retail pharmacists are at their breaking point... it should never come down to this... but I fear this is not going to be a one off. I fear this is becoming the reality. We are not ok. If we're not ok, you're not going to be ok. Our mental capacity and health can affect your safety. Let's keep this in mind. Please... let's all show some grace for each other. Empathy and understanding can go A LONG ways. How do we get there? That's the big question. Reimbursements are terrible, if not at mostly negative margins. Salaries are stagnant. Technicians, the backbone of most pharmacies, are scarce. There isn't enough financial incentive for them to stay. Chick-fil-A pays more, so why be a "punching bag"? Things need to change. PBM reform HAS to happen. Corporate greed needs to be reined in. THIS needs to become a one off. Let's not let this continue and become normalized. But also... let's hold this pharmacist dear and hope she gets the support she sorely needs.

Chain retail needs better working conditions and has for MANY YEARS! With the PBM reign of terror causing independent pharmacy closures every single day, you will only see more burden added to the Chain Retail Pharmacies left standing. There will be more burnout, more mental breakdowns, a higher degradation of patient care, a frightening increase in med errors and patient harm. PBM Abuse is not just a problem for Independent Pharmacy. It is just as much of a problem for Chain Retail Pharmacy. But more importantly it’s a problem for patients, they will be harmed the most!! Do we need more people to die from med errors or a few more pharmacist to have heart attacks on shift to get the point across?

Hello connections Red alert to retail pharmacist Government thinking to allow sale of over the counter medicines to grocery stores. Because of this decision may be customer think from now OTC medicines they can purchase from online but as a retail pharmacist its very disappointing as every retail pharmacist try very hard each day to get new customers and OTC customers are prime for many standalone pharmacies. according to me 1)Dispensing of any medicines should be right on only pharmacist 2) Pharmacy student already learn about risk management in case of adverse event so in any severe situation pharmacist is best person for handling hazardous situation 3) Grocery stores dont know exact dose which is needful to patient even if it is OTC We dont know weather this law will come into practice but pharmacist should be upgrade themselves in terms of pharmacy practice I request government also to think once before implement it as many small retailers rely on OTC sale and it directly impact their daily business I mention my opinion in my latest youtube video (link https://lnkd.in/dHh79uMR) #newFDAregulation #retailpharmacist

Hot take: I think it's interesting that this coverage excluded the role of CVS PBM in Walgreens decline, or the fact that CVS owns its PBM, or the fact that CVS will put the PBM CEO in as the new CVS CEO. There is no reason that a pharmacy should own a PBM. Also, the interview suggests that people don't want to connect with a pharmacist and would prefer mail order. I love the convenience of delivery but I don't think the sweeping generalization about Americans wanting their meds, wanting them cheap, and wanting them delivered is an accurate reflection as much as it is a manufactured pathway meant to defray costs and increase bottom line - along with increasing executive salaries and shareholder payouts. Many older people rely on their relationship with their care teams- to include the pharmacists- but corporate commodification of our health and well-being has made these relationships less accessible, and unsustainable. Anti-trust much?

During the pandemic, retail pharmacies including CVS Health, Walgreens, RITE AID, and Walmart saw increased foot traffic as customers flocked to the stores for medications and household items like toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Plus, with the help of government funding, chains earned billions from distributing Covid vaccines. But things seemed to change for the sector by the end of 2022 when fewer people were getting Covid vaccines and tests. Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy last October, and CVS and Walgreens reported steep losses over 2024. What went wrong? Experts say there are several factors, including changing consumer habits, increased competition, and a string of multibillion-dollar acquisitions that haven’t paid off.
