📊 40 billion IoT devices by 2030, are they secured? 📌 The number of connected IoT devices is estimated to grow to 40 billion by 2030 according to IoT Analytics 📌 Number of connected IoT devices to grow 13% by end of 2024. 📌 This estimation does not count any computers, laptops, fixed phones, cellphones, or consumers tablets. ⚡ The Challenge: ❗IoT devices have no built-in security. ❗IoT devices transfer data over the internet unencrypted. ❗IoT devices often rely on weak authentication and authorization practices, which makes them vulnerable to threats ❗IoT devices are often connected to the same network as other devices, which means that an attack on one device can spread to others 💡 The Solution: IoT and security requirements can only be accomplished with an integrated solution that delivers visibility, segmentation, and protection throughout the entire network infrastructure. 👉🏻 According to Fortinet, your IoT security must contain the following key abilities: 1- Learn: With complete network visibility, security solutions can authenticate and classify IoT devices to build a risk profile and assign them to IoT device groups. 2- Segment: Once the enterprise understands its IoT attack surface, IoT devices can be segmented into policy-driven groups based on their risk profiles. 3- Protect: The policy-driven IoT groups and internal network segmentation enable monitoring, inspection, and policy enforcement based on the activity at various points within the infrastructure. 👋🏻 If you're seeking a driven professional with a passion for technology and a proven ability to drive solutions, I'm currently exploring technical presales opportunities. Let's connect to discuss how I can add value to your team. #IoT #cybersecurity

Here are the 2 traits that always make candidates stand out in IoT (Experience from partnering with global IoT Solutions Providers in Aug/Oct) We delivered on Senior Sales and technical IT vacancies, and two main characteristics make a massive difference, regardless of the role: Deep understanding of industry trends & insightful questions. Here are two examples: ❇️ Understanding of Industry Trends The company we partnered with delivers projects in a number of African countries, including Kenya and South Africa. A large part of their client portfolio is in the automotive industry What made this candidate stand out was his understanding of different IoT use cases in these very specific markets. In SA, he knew that IoT use cases would revolve mainly around car theft and vehicle recovery, given the crime rate and hijacking stats. In Kenya, that's not really a problem, but car maintenance is. Their main use case would be around remote monitoring of vehicle parts, service reminders and preventative maintenance. His understanding of two very different market trends in the region made him come across as far more knowledgable and capable than other candidates, Some of whom were arguably more 'experienced'. ❇️ Insightful Questions Questions are the best way to show your insight, hands down. The company we partnered with operates in the NaaS space, with a focus on eSim and IoT connectivity & management. The candidate came from a different telco vertical and would be newer to the IoT world, so the client was naturally worried about her ability to get up to speed quickly. But during her interview, she asked very specific questions that showed insight and preparation. Specifically, she asked whether their eSim solution was a single or multiple IMSI, and how many network partners they had across their core regions. That question alone removed all doubt that she'd have any problems transitioning over to IoT sales. ______________________________________________ Good news is that demonstrating both of these can come from in-depth research and some good old-fashioned proactivity. P.S. - What's the best candidate question you've ever heard or asked during an interview?
