Building the No.1 start-up campus to develop the next generation of African founders | Mentor & Advisor to Early Stage Africa-focused Founders

As a founder, it’s always easy to look at “successful” start-ups and be in awe or even envious. But the reality is that entrepreneurship is about enduring pain and having the tenacity to persevere when the going gets tough. The romanticization of the start-up journey by the media with the depiction of founders raising billions of dollars and knocking Champagne glasses has caused many founders to neglect the real truth about been a founder – it is bloody hard. Entrepreneurship is a state of mind. This means that it isn’t for everyone. So here are 6 questions to ask yourself before taking the leap into building out your idea: 1. What is the market you will be entering? 2. How big is it? 3. Is it growing? 4. Who will you be competing against? Can any of those competitors be collaborators? 5. How will your solution be differentiated and compelling to users and buyers? 6. Is the technology scalable and can it evolve to address future market conditions? I am building Africa's largest start-up campus to help Africa-focused founders build thriving and innovative companies across 12 sectors. Our purpose is to significantly impact local economies, accelerate social development and create new start-up opportunities by speeding up the pace of change and growth through entrepreneurship.   At Founders Yard, we are bringing together previously disparate community of start-up supporters, programmes, initiatives and creating one open, legible way for high-performing founders from across the region and the diaspora to access the best Capital , Content and Community to help them succeed.
