Let's talk about #Africa Considering my short height, which I love by the way 😂, it was fascinating to know that being tall is very common among a certain ethnic group in Africa. They take the crown when it comes to height in the whole of Africa, yes you heard right 😁 In that ethnic group, many of their men stand above 6ft tall.🤭 Interesting right? According to African Hub, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has stated that he doesn’t want pictures of himself displayed in offices across Senegal. He emphasized that he is neither a deity nor an icon. Instead, he encourages people to place pictures of their children. "I don't want my pictures in your offices because am not God neither am I an icon, but I am a servant to the nation, instead put the pictures of your children so that you will look at them whenever you are about to make a decision" - Bassirou Diomaye Faye (Senegalese President) Source: African Hub #sallukamuskay #sierraleone

>Gaza is geen diversiteitsdiscussie< %*+] people say around DEI #1 Gaza is not about diversity! As someone who creates strategies for more representative stories in journalism and marketing, I wasn’t that surprised that the topic of Gaza kept coming up in every professional discussion since about the start of this year. What shocks me is the context. There have been no questions about how to create a more diverse approach to reporting, no remarks about equal and fair framing and no requests on how to build a supportive environment for those traumatized by war or having family members in war zones. I guess these conversations are still spent on the Ukraïne. All cynicism aside I do believe these questions don’t need answers from me in most cases, since any rational and brave professional can start working towards answers to these questions. However, if I would share one free DEI tip with whoever needs to hear it: the genocide in Gaza is not your “diversity discussion” topic. Over the last few months the level of whiteness in some people approaching me to talk about Gaza has been astounding and since I’m only a freelancer I suppose much dumber conversations are going on fulltime and I feel bad for anyone with an Arab name being the receiving end of these “questions” “You care a lot about Gaza right? (Silence)” “How do you plan to balance your tweets about Gaza with your professional image?” “Are people like you able to function normally right now? “Do you want to make content about how you feel at the moment, for us?” “What is your position om Hamas?” If there is nothing you offer as input to the conversation and there are many vile implications for asking these random questions that you would not ask someone with a Dutch name tweeting about Gaza, then maybe cease the conversation and start asking real questions to yourself first. Thank you. 🍉 PS this is a picture of a cute baby camel PS2 I sell services and digital products that you can use for things

DEMOCRACY METAMODERNISM Africa needs to confront liberal democracy consciously. Confronting liberal democracy consciously requires: 1. Awareness of its underlying values and beliefs 2. Recognition of its impact on power dynamics and inequality 3. Examination of its relationship with capitalism and neoliberalism 4. Consideration of its limitations in representing marginalized voices 5. Acknowledgment of its potential for complacency and stagnation By confronting liberal democracy consciously, Africa can: 1. Understand how it shapes our perceptions and beliefs 2. Identify areas for shift (beyond reform) and dynamism 3. Address the needs and concerns of underrepresented groups 4. Foster a more inclusive, participatory, and equitable democracy 5. Cultivate a more informed, engaged, and critical citizenry Conscious confrontation allows Africans to: 1. Move beyond ideological assumptions 2. See the complexities and nuances 3. Develop a more nuanced understanding of democracy's potential and limitations 4. Envision and work towards a more just and equitable society 5. Initiate the evolution towards a living democracy more. What a vital and necessary endeavor for repioneering democracy towards regeneration! https://lnkd.in/d_SzMNWk
