Internal Yoga Day! #yoga #internationyogaday #india #wellbeing #kids In the past decade, the Government of India has made significant strides in enhancing its soft power by designating June 21st as International Yoga Day. India, the birthplace of Yoga and Ayurveda, has introduced these practices to the world, yet many Indians have not fully integrated yoga into their daily routines. When I was in school, weekly, we had a dedicated day for practicing yoga, but this practice seems to have faded away. Yoga should be included in primary education. Now, how can one start practicing yoga? * It's always recommended to be trained by a certified instructor. * There are excellent videos by certified trainers available on YouTube that can be followed. * Encourage your family to join and start with basic breathing exercises. * Begin with stretching exercises. * Conclude with mindful meditation. 300 million people practise yoga worldwide, yet few understand its true essence. Keep reading if you want to know about authentic yoga: I recently had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Tanu Singh, co-founder of Lifeyoga, on my Because She Can podcast. Her journey from a premature baby to a yoga powerhouse is nothing short of inspiring! Our conversation was a rollercoaster of insights, laughter, and "aha" moments. Let me share 5 eye-opening takeaways that might just change how you view yoga and wellness: 1. Yoga is not just exercise - it's a lifestyle: Dr. Tanu emphasises that yoga combined with Ayurveda creates the perfect balance for mind and body. 2. The power of fasting: Did you know that our ancestors naturally practised intermittent fasting? Two meals a day, not seven, are what our bodies truly need. 3. Protein shakes aren't always the answer: Dr. Tanu warns that consuming these during workouts confuses our bodies, potentially leading to digestive issues. 4. Meditation reimagined: If sitting still isn't your thing, don't worry! For Dr. Tanu, her daily 25-minute Havan (fire ceremony) serves as a powerful form of meditation. It's all about finding what works for you. 5. The best yoga pose for gut health: Malasana! And for those abs you've been chasing - try Navasana. What struck me most was Dr. Tanu's passion for bringing authentic Indian classical yoga to the forefront. In a world where yoga certifications are predominantly US-based, she and Dr. Varun Veer are pioneering change. Dr. Tanu's journey reminds us that yoga is more than just trendy poses - it's a science of living. Her story embodies the "Because She Can" spirit, showing that with determination, we can transform our lives and inspire others. Have you incorporated yoga into your daily routine? What benefits have you noticed? #BecauseSheCan #Yoga #PersonalGrowth

As we approach International Yoga Day, it’s the perfect time to highlight some pioneering yoga startups that are revolutionizing the practice. These companies are blending technology, wellness, and creativity to make yoga more accessible and enjoyable. YogiFi, with its intelligent yoga mat, integrates sensors and real-time feedback, allowing practitioners to perfect their poses at home. Tummee.com provides resources and tools for yoga teachers, empowering them to enhance their classes and impact communities. Momentom Collective offers immersive events combining yoga, art, and music to inspire personal growth and social change. From India, Yoganta offers holistic wellness centers and digital content addressing lifestyle diseases, while Yoga Jal by Patanjali Ayurveda provides herb-infused waters promoting Ayurvedic health principles. FitMi combines yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda to deliver comprehensive wellness programs tailored for various demographics. Other notable startups include Heatwise with its modern hot yoga studios, The Drunk Yoga® Method, which combines yoga with social events, and Sūna, producing eco-friendly yoga mats from sustainable materials. These firms demonstrate how innovation in yoga can enhance physical and mental well-being, making the ancient practice more accessible and relevant in today’s fast-paced world. Kudos to all of them for doing wonderful work in the well-being space and contributing to society. #startups #yoga #enterpuner

Last December, I met a young and charismatic couple from Lisbon in Rishikesh. For those unfamiliar, Rishikesh is famously known as the Yoga Capital of the World—a sanctuary for Yoga Teacher Training, retreats, and Ayurvedic healing. During our conversation, I learned they were eager to join a yoga course specializing in "Tantra Yoga." Intrigued, I asked: - "You want to master it in a week?" - "Do you know which guru or lineage is best for this practice?" - "Are you ready for the profound guidance and effort Tantra and Yoga demand?" They blinked at me, visibly confused, and replied, "Yeah, we know. It’s just a set of poses to open my Kundalini." 😒 This moment highlighted a pressing issue: Lack of real understanding and knowledge The retreat they were about to join had clearly failed to educate them about the depth and complexity of Tantra Yoga. Instead, they were sold on flashy marketing promises, without a hint of the discipline, philosophy, or guidance such practices require. As someone deeply rooted in content creation for wellness and yoga brands, this experience solidified my belief: The online yoga sites are flooded with misguided information and clickbait content. While some brands may focus solely on selling courses, the ones truly invested in their clients’ growth—and long-term retention—understand the power of: ✅Analytical Content: Providing evidence-based insights and thoughtful breakdowns of concepts. ✅Informative Resources: Educating potential clients about the philosophy and practice behind yoga traditions. ✅Well-Researched Narratives: Offering authentic, lineage-backed knowledge that builds trust. A report by Statista predicts the global yoga market will grow to $66 billion by 2027. Yet, with growth comes responsibility. Brands that prioritize authenticity in their messaging will stand out in a crowded marketplace, building loyalty and transforming lives. If you’re a yoga brand striving to connect with your right audience you need to be authentic and make some effort to really educate them.

Yoga, traditionally perceived in the West as mere physical exercise, is fundamentally an ancient discipline aimed at profound self-realization. It offers a holistic lifestyle that integrates the body, mind, emotions, and spirit, transcending the simplistic view of just physical postures. Unfortunately, the sacred science of yoga has been significantly diluted and commercialized by Western influences, transforming it into an activity focused predominantly on physical aesthetics within a profit-driven industry. This shift has obscured yoga's rich spiritual essence, reducing it to an exercise devoid of its transformative depth. The true essence of yoga is beautifully encapsulated in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras through the Eight Limbs of Yoga. These range from Yama (ethical standards) and Niyama (personal disciplines), to Asana (physical postures) and Pranayama (breath control), extending to Pratyahara (sensory withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and culminating in Samadhi (enlightenment). Each limb serves as a step on the path to greater spiritual growth and understanding. Embracing the yoga lifestyle means integrating these practices into daily life, fostering not just physical wellness but also spiritual and emotional growth. A journey toward self-mastery, inner peace, and a profound connection with the universal frequencies. At its heart, UNAKTI is built upon these Yogic and Vedic principles. These ancient teachings guide our operations and infuse every aspect of our organization with unity, integrity, and purpose. We are committed not just to personal well-being but also to fostering spiritual and emotional growth across our community. This adherence to Yogic and Vedic wisdom positions Unakti not merely as a business but as a vibrant community dedicated to promoting a balanced lifestyle. #InternationalYogaDay
