Well said! Sustainable disruption cannot come at the cost of energy reliability and affordability. Thank you, Erin R. Bobicki, PhD, P.Eng, Anjum Mullick, M.Sc., P.Eng. and Erin Mulrooney for representing Aurora.
On October 1, I had the privilege to join Linde’s Nicolas Pattera, Suncor’s Kelly Campbell and Parkland Corporation’s Rob Pinchuk at the Energy Disruptors UNITE Summit to discuss scaling low-carbon energy resources, including hydrogen. During our panel and throughout the summit, the conversation came back to the massive challenge of meeting 2030 decarbonization goals in the U.S. and Canada — especially with energy demand set to increase. Clean tech innovations must support reliable, affordable energy, and projects that can move quickly are at an advantage. However, scaling new technologies takes time and resources, in terms of people, materials and funding. At Aurora Hydrogen we are working to scale low-cost, low-carbon distributed hydrogen production. We founded the company in 2021, built a prototype, and raised venture capital in 2022 to demonstrate the technology at an industrially-relevant scale. After 2 years of engineering, and moving as quickly as we can, I am proud to say our pilot plant is under construction and scheduled for commissioning this fall. We have been lucky - to receive significant financial support from Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Alberta Innovates, and others, and to have such a fantastic and dedicated team. Stay tuned for updates on our pilot plant and progress towards a commercial product in 2025. #Hydrogen #CleanTech #Innovation
