Did you know Australia's automotive manufacturing sector generated over $14 billion in revenue from over 3,000 businesses in 2022–23? The Jobs and Skills Australia employment projections forecast the industry to exceed 50,000 workers over the 10 years to May 2033. The 2023 Skills Priority List identifies half of the top 10 occupations in this sector as experiencing a shortage, including 4 out of the top 5 occupations. Key occupations for the sector include: -structural steel and welding trades -product assemblers -vehicle body builders and trimmers -industrial, mechanical and production engineers. Demand factors from the mining industry are helping to drive new automotive manufacturing opportunities. The sector is well positioned to support the local manufacture of electric vehicle components, including batteries, to support Australia's Critical Mineral Strategy. Deep dive into our automotive insights; see the full report. https://lnkd.in/gk3yVj85 We would like to know the topics that need more exploration or insights as we prepare the next version of the Workforce Plan. Please submit your feedback for Workforce Plan 2024 by Friday 29 November 2024. https://lnkd.in/gcS5-ktH #AutomotiveManufacturing #AutomotiveMechanical #AutomotiveProduction

Are you looking for a large number of skilled, committed and qualified engineering candidates and fast? You may have seen from local media reports that a number of highly skilled and qualified workers from the engineering industry are coming onto the job market in the coming months. This is partially as a result of the current production gap at Alstom’s train manufacturing facility at Litchurch Lane in Derby. Key suppliers that Shorterm also provide temporary workers too, Motherson and Paintbox, will also have skilled workers becoming available as a result. This specialist workforce has a wide range of skills across fields such as Mechanical, Electrical, Fabrication, Paint, Warehouse and Materials, Quality, Leadership, Supply Chain and Procurement. As Alstom’s exclusive provider of temporary workers across the UK, Shorterm are hosting an event to engage with employers who are seeking to tap into a specialist and highly sought after talent pool and potentially provide candidates with new opportunities. Many of us are counting on the technical workforce of the 21st century to be the great problem solvers we need. ASME is deeply engaged in workforce development, so it knows how difficult it is to find and hire qualified technical talent. At this critical moment when we can’t afford to leave any talent behind, today only 9 percent of U.S. mechanical engineers are women, only 11 percent are BIPOC, and only 4 percent are African American. To create the workforce we need, corporate America—industry—has to do more to help build its own future workforce.

This definitely rings true within the recruitment industry. What do you think? A giant 🚢 ship's engine broke down and no one could repair it, so they hired a Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years of experience. ⚙️ He inspected the engine very carefully, from top to bottom. After seeing everything, the engineer unloaded his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He knocked something gently. Soon, the engine came to life again. The engine has been fixed! A week later the engineer mentioned to the ship owner that the total cost of repairing the giant ship was $20,000. 💰 "What?!" said the owner. “You did almost nothing. Give us a detailed bill." The Engineer replied to him “The answer is simple:” Tap with a hammer: $2 Know where to knock and how much to knock: $19,998. 💰 The importance of appreciating one's expertise and experience...🙌 because those are the results of struggles, experiments and even tears..😭💪 🕒 If I do a job in 30 minutes ⏰ it's because I spent 20 years 📚 learning how to do that in 30 minutes. You owe me for the years, not the minutes. 💪 #recruitment #careergoals #experience #expertise

⭐Meet Mark - Manufacturing Manager 📋About I have been a Mechanical Engineer for 20 years of my 46 years on this blue ball, spending 7 years as engineering Manager at Australia Conveyor Engineering (ACE)/Fenner Dunlop, more recently finished a 7-year term with Flexco Australia, spending 4 years as Engineering Manager, then moving into a role as ‘General Manager of Operations’ holding that position for 3 years. My engineering career started in the military but has transitioned into conveyor engineering. I have had the opportunity to design, manufacture, and install some of the largest conveyor systems in the coal mining industry. I was attracted to TSG due to my skill alignment, but more importantly, the challenge of the owner’s vision and mission has set for the business is to achieve, I see it as an exciting ride to be part of. 💡Top Tips ⭐I want to work and will fully support people who aim to continually improve, I will always encourage people to achieve even the smallest of improvements because only with continual small improvements, large improvements can be achieved. ⭐People who have a problem but work to solve that problem and just seek guidance on the direction will always gain high favour than those who come with problems. ⭐I will always be self-critical of what I do, what my department does, and what the business does all in the name of finding areas to improve. Taking responsibility for things you do well, but also things not well, and then seeking to change, that is one of the most important behaviours I like to see in team members. #tsglobal #leadership #career

Today is Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, a day where role models and educators introduce a girl to engineering by talking to them about engineering, hands-on challenges and activities. In celebration of this we spoke with one of our female engineers within the UK’s Lifting Solution Group. We spoke to Megan Winnard, Relief Operations Controller, at Lifting Gear UK Ltd, and asked her a few questions about her experiences as a female engineer and the challenges sometimes faced working in a male dominant industry. Megan said: “My mum inspired me to pursue a career in engineering, she’s been in the lifting industry most of her career and she is my role model. I love fixing things, especially something I’ve not worked on before and I love to learn new things. It never gets boring! I still get comments sometimes such as ‘are you safe to drive that thing?’ when operating a fork truck etc, but I love the fact that I can show women are just as capable as men to do this kind of role. If I could give younger women considering starting a career in engineering any advice I’d say, don’t be intimidated by the lack of women in the roles, the men are usually super helpful and supportive. It is a physically demanding job but 100% achievable.” #femaleengineers #engineering #introduceagirltoengineering

Although we must remain watchful and keep due pressure on those we voted into office and remind them, no more raises, possible lowered paycheck since the allegiance to protecting our borders, safety and constitution is not being carried out….but instead, treasonous and corrupt behaviors are being allowed! We the people must continue to grow our allegiance and engagement in the Constitutional and lawful processes. The economy of our country and purchasing made in USA products, rebuilding USA materials and products is our duty in serving one another as citizens. We must return to a self sufficient and empowered country. Energy is key! A robust focus on stock piling resources of natural gas, fossil fuel, more nuclear fission stations until we reach commercialized fusion is required! Manufacturing our own steel, aluminum, etc etc is a must! AND we need technological new material resources. We need the answer to various finishes built into instead of adding finishes onto surfaces for wear, etc. We all need highly skilled manufacturing work communities. WALCO Tool & Engineering has the ability to take work on and expand our footprint with new jobs and future opportunities IF we could train faster and having our education system work alongside us, would be extremely helpful! www.walcotool.com Career page, videos are available to review. We are always looking for highly skilled lathe and mill craftsmen who enjoy manufacturing! ALWAYS have a people capacity requirement for second and third shift!
