As we gear up for the Women in Rail Award Ceremony at #InnoTrans2024 on 24 September, we’re thrilled to share some key takeaways from our recent workshops, aimed at fostering discussions on advancing female leadership and empowerment in the rail sector. To nurture female leadership and empower women in rail, it's crucial to implement tailored training and mentoring programs, address skill shortages in STEM fields, and eliminate gender biases in recruitment. Additionally, creating work environments designed by women and for women—supporting them at every stage of their careers—is key to their progress and success. During a unique train journey from Brussels to Berlin, on 23 September, we will dive deeper into these conclusions and prepare for the grand finale at InnoTrans. Let’s continue this journey together, pushing boundaries and championing gender diversity in the rail industry. 🏆 Save the Date: 24 September at #InnoTrans2024 Let’s celebrate the incredible achievements of women in rail and discuss the way forward! ℹ️ Learn more: https://bit.ly/3U8l8Gt ------------------ Groupe SNCF Wabtec Corporation Knorr-Bremse AG Hitachi Rail Siemens Mobility Deutsche Bahn eSGR European Smart Green Rail (CEMOSA COMSA Corporación ENYSE ETRA Tekniker) Alstom ADIF MERMEC AŽD CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) Ceit Research Center ČD Cargo, a.s. 🚍 Women use public transport more than men. This underscores the need for gender-sensitive perspectives in our sector - and that starts with more women in the workforce. 💪 There's work to do. 📊 Based on UITP data, driving buses is the least attractive mode for female drivers, with a 9% average share of women bus drivers. 📝 Our latest study produced in partnership with the European Investment Bank (EIB) looks to advance the development of public transport systems that are fully responsive to the diverse needs of their users and staff, ensuring that public transport not only enhances mobility but also significantly contributes to broader goals of diversity, equity and inclusion. 🔗 Discover it here: https://lnkd.in/escrfZmi #StatSaturday #GenderEquality

🌟 Breaking Barriers in Transportation: Empowering Women in the Transportation 🚗✨ Did you know that across 46 countries surveyed by the ILO, female participation in the transport workforce averages a mere 17%? This statistic not only highlights a glaring gender gap but also underscores the urgent need for change. Women in transportation face a myriad of challenges, from discriminatory environments to safety concerns and limited access to essential facilities. This International Labor Day, let's commit ourselves to fostering inclusive workplaces and dismantling the systemic barriers that hinder women's full participation in the transport workforce. Here's how we can steer toward progress: 🔍Collect data on women’s experiences in the transport sector to better address their unique challenges 📚 Improve access to education and training programs for aspiring women transport professionals and assist women to obtain necessary certifications like driving licenses 📝Enact gender responsive transport policies to ensure equal pay, flexible work hours and gender responsive infrastructure etc. 👩💼Empower women in leadership to steer industry-wide inclusion efforts Together, let’s ignite change and pave the way for a more equitable future for all. #GenderEquality #Transportation #Inclusion #EmpowerWomen #InternationalLabourDay #TransportIsPink🌍👩🔧👷♀️ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Safetipin

"Globally, women are severely underrepresented across the transport industry: less than 13% of #transport workers are women. In the EU, for example, 22% of transport workers are women, while only 14% of ground transport workers, including #road transport, are women, as opposed to 20% in #maritime and 40% in aviation. For professional drivers, the rates are even lower." 👉 Read the news article here: https://lnkd.in/dkwPDstp #ECGNews
