Tuesdays still have that ‘Taco Tuesday’ vibe, right? 🌮 Whether you’re still savoring the term or not, it was the first thing on my mind this morning. With many in my network on the hunt for new opportunities, I hope these #hiring tips hit the spot for job-seekers out there... T – Tailor your resume for each job — one size doesn’t fit all! Highlight your skills and experiences that are most relevant to the position. A – Apply with intention. Focus on jobs that excite you and match your skill set, and avoid the “spray and pray” approach. C – Connect with people and approach each conversation with genuine interest. Reach out to professionals in your desired field and join relevant groups to expand your knowledge and opportunities. O – Organize your job search. Keep track of applications and follow-ups to ensure nothing slips through the cracks. My last tip, but certainly not least, Centerfield is hiring and could be your next great opportunity! Check out our careers page for a list of our current openings ✨ https://lnkd.in/gf_B374V

Happy Friday! I'd like to introduce everyone to a new member of the team. Shawn Kirkpatrick will be joining us heading up candidate and client relations within #Wind and #Hydrogen development. Joining our team with years of experience in the US Navy and a career in golf, we are so excited to see where Shawn brings Cranberry in the future. Thanks Shawn, we are so lucky to have YOU! If you're a #Developer looking to grow or change up your team, please reach out to Shawn or myself! Get to Know Shawn: "I have spent my adult life in the service of others. As a Navy Veteran I served on many platforms and was a leader as much as a follower. In my latter years I was in charge of my subordinates career advancement, making sure they were on a path of success. After my 20 year military retirement I pursued my passion and coached golf for 10 years. My clients were all ages and walks of life. Here is where I learned a very important skill of patience and compassion. I considered myself not only a golf coach but also as a mentor to my students. I am honored to be part of the Cranberry recruitment team and I am looking forward to the journey ahead." 1. Where are you from? I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. 2. Favorite vacation spot? Bali is my favorite vacation spot the sunset alone keeps me going back. 3. If you could go back in time, where would you go? Egypt, I would really like know how they built the pyramids and underground tombs etc. 4. What's made you excited about working in renewables? Renewables have always interested me. We are destroying our environment one gas tank at a time and I just think there has to be a better way for the generations ahead of us. 5. What do you like about working in recruitment? I just enjoy talking with people and if I can help them in anyway, that’s great too. 6. Favorite snack? Pepperoni pizza without a doubt. 7. What are you most excited about regarding joining the team at Cranberry? I am excited to develop my interpersonal skills.

I was recently asked by a person in their early 20's, just starting to plan their future, what I would recommend as a career. I told them "Think about Star Trek. What would you choose to do if you lived in that time, on a starship?" The blank stare I received was priceless. "How do you mean?", they asked. My answer: "If you would work in the engineering section, then choose an engineering path. Software, hardware, mechanical, electrical... something that involves problem solving but something that keeps your interest. If you would work in the medical bay, then go with a medical field. Genetics, microbiology, surgery... those types of careers. Pick a specialty that makes you think and work toward that. If you would work in the bridge, then direct your efforts toward leadership / management careers. Learn how to be diplomatic but decisive. Master the art of working with people and having them work with you. If you would work anywhere else on the ship, identify the general role and responsibilities of that crew member and tailor your path to align." They then asked, "You think we're going to be in starships in the next couple decades? How would this exercise help me now?" I said, "In Star Trek, people fill roles not for money but out of personal interest, investment and skill. People who do things they are passionate about tend to be the happiest people. Plan to be happy with your path because resentment is an anchor. Plus, if you find something you love doing and train for that ideal Star Trek position, it'll be waiting for you when we get there."

"A ship is safe in harbour, but that’s not what ships are for” Ships, much like people, are built to navigate the vast and often unpredictable seas, not to remain anchored in the safety of the harbour. Change can be intimidating, but it also brings growth and new experiences. There are a few things to consider when exploring new opportunities such as evaluating how it aligns with your career goals, skills and interests and researching the company by looking into the company values, culture and reputation will give you a better understanding of what it might be like to work there. Remember it's ok to feel cautious, but sometimes taking a leap of faith can lead to amazing opportunities. I had dinner tonight with my camping buddy and his wife. He’s a 55yo founder with a satisfying exit 4 years ago. He’s not on LI or any social, but his name is Tom Meredith. We often talk about corporate vs. early stage. We’ve sweated through both. Tom earned his degree etc and left corporate after a few years to build his company - a manufacturer of data center cable trays. Iron supporting the fiber. Not sexy, but IFYKY. His perspective on corporate careers is so different than mine. He thinks that corporate climbers stay for 3 years and then jump to a higher role in a different company. “Cris-crossing” the ladder. And do that until you retire. Inauthentic and exhausting, in my view. If a person is In corporate America, stay and give it your all to prove yourself which takes longer than 3 years - especially in leadership/executive roles. Give it your heart and soul and learn everything. And when the fun of it or the promises of the next big promotion (18mos here or there) are gone - THEN leave. I’m specifically talking about climbers.

You got an offer from a dream company but with a lower title. You took the job for experience. Over time, your contributions were recognized, and you climbed faster than expected. Just as you were about to get a promotion, another company offered a higher position. After weighing options, you decided to stay, valuing the growth and opportunities. Moral of the story: Titles can be misleading. Focus on growth. #CareerGrowth #LongTermVision
