I think we can all agree that this is a very big number. It will keep getting bigger because the same firm estimates that the cost of damage is growing at 15% a year. Here then is the anomaly - apart from one, sometimes two exceptions, cyber security stocks don’t do that well when compared to tech overall. As the chart illustrates, over the last three years, Hack, a leading cybersecurity ETF and the leadings stocks in the sector have actually underperformed the more general iShares US Technology ETF.
