As one of the members and founding partners of Ahlström Collective Impact (ACI), we support Suomen UNICEF – UNICEF Finland’s work for children's rights. Every child has the right to learn. The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) was established on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. Over time, UNICEF's mission has broadened to address the long-term needs of children and women in developing countries, with a particular focus on advocating for children's rights, including their right to education. Education is a fundamental right for all children, and UNICEF works tirelessly to ensure that every child has access to quality learning opportunities, regardless of their situation, gender, or disability status. Through its global campaigns, partnerships, and programs, UNICEF strives to break down the barriers that prevent children from going to school and learning. Whether it's by providing learning materials, training teachers, rehabilitating schools, or advocating for policy changes, UNICEF's commitment to education aims at giving every child the chance to learn and thrive. #UNICEF #milestonesinhistory #childrenrights #qualityeducation #learningforall #genderequalityineducation #educationadvocacy #educationhistory

UNICEF (2023) reports that only 4 in 10 children attend early childhood education programs, and it's even lower with a 1 in 4 in Sub-Saharan Africa. Investing in the education of our children from an early age is indeed no "child's play" and should not be trivialized📍 The family and even society, profits from this investment. It is a wholesome and rounded contribution to the overall growth and development of our societies. The Sapphires Development Initiative advocates for and empowers children and youth. Commemorating African Children's Day! Today, we honor African Children's Day, a momentous occasion dedicated to celebrating and advocating for the rights and welfare of children across the African continent. Established in 1991 by the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union), this day marks the Soweto Uprising of 1976, where thousands of South African children marched to demand better education and equal rights. The theme for this year, "Investing in Our Future Means Investing in Our Children," highlights the crucial need for sustained efforts in improving the quality of education, healthcare, and protection for every child. As we reflect on the progress made, we must also recognize the ongoing challenges many children face, from poverty and conflict to lack of access to basic necessities. Let's use this day to reaffirm our commitment to creating a brighter future for the next generation. By investing in children’s education, health, and overall well-being, we are paving the way for a more prosperous and equitable Africa. How You Can Make a Difference? - Support organizations dedicated to child welfare and education. - Advocate for policies that protect children’s rights. - Volunteer your time and skills to mentor or support young people in your community. - Raise awareness about the importance of children's rights and the issues they face. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to a thriving, vibrant Africa. #AfricanChildrensDay #InvestInChildren #FutureLeaders #ChildRights #Africa #Angola

World Children’s Day is UNICEF’s annual day of action for children. In 1989, world leaders adopted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is considered one of the most widely ratified human rights treaties, historically. Transforming children’s lives around the world. Still, not every child gets to enjoy a full childhood. In the Bontibor community of Northern Ghana, Divine struggles to walk due to a genetic disability. He & his nephew, Albert, live far from clean water & in the dry season, they must walk long distances to get water for drinking & cooking. Albert wants a fulfilled education, but helping his uncle collect water makes it hard for him to attend school. This is a crucial aspect highlighted by UNICEF working on water accessibility & education in regions like West Africa. When clean water sources are distant or scarce, children, especially girls, are often responsible for collecting water for their families. However, when clean water becomes more accessible through improved infrastructure or closer water sources, it significantly reduces the time & effort children spend fetching water. With increased access to clean water, children can attend school regularly, concentrate on their studies, & participate in extracurricular activities, thereby contributing to improved academic performance & personal development. Working with mutual in-country partners, Water for West Africa has helped provide closer clean water access to where Divine & Albert live. Only by fulfilling & protecting the rights of every child, everywhere — including children's social, economic, cultural, civil & political rights — can we ensure a better future for all. #WFWA #WorldChildrensDay #ForEveryChild #YourVoiceMatters #CleanWater

As a part of Ahlström Collective Impact, we supported UNICEF Finland (Suomen UNICEF – UNICEF Finland) last year in their mission to provide education for every child. With our joint contribution of nearly EUR 800,000, UNICEF could for example promote mental health and well-being in schools in Sri Lanka. One of the beneficiaries was St. Sebastian College in the North-Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, where UNICEF launched a teacher training program to equip educators with the skills to address students’ psychological needs. Now, teachers understand students’ needs better, the interaction between students and teachers has improved, and the stress levels of teachers have decreased. School performance has also improved, with students learning better and acquiring the vital skills needed for further education and life Learn more about how Ahlström Collective Impact supported UNICEF’s work on children’s education: https://lnkd.in/ebgt7qM #ahlstromcollectiveimpact #SDG4 #sparkchange #foreverychild 👫🌍👫

Today we're celebrating World Children’s Day! On November 20th, the world unites to honor and celebrate the rights of children everywhere. This day stands as a reminder that children are not only the future but deserve respect, protection, and opportunities today. The day symbolizes our collective commitment to building a better world for future generations. For the fifth consecutive year, Glaston as part of Ahlström Collective Impact joins forces with UNICEF Finland to raise awareness about Child Rights in the context of the World Children’s Day celebrations. Childhood is a pivotal phase in life, establishing the foundation for lifelong success by nurturing cognitive abilities, emotional wellness, social competence, and robust physical and mental health. In 2024, the focus is on education and the gift of reading. We support Suomen UNICEF – UNICEF Finland’s work for children's rights, especially every child’s right to learn. A spelling mistake is just one of the consequences of a child not receiving sufficient support in their education at school, not going to school, or not getting quality education.
