🚀 What a busy and productive week! 🚀 This past week has been a whirlwind of activity for our team with Natasha Chadwick, Greg Aleckson and Justin Chadwick busy meeting with the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and key government representatives to discuss how our MICRO TOWN® model can support their plans for improving quality of care, quality of life, and sustainability across the sector. We had the incredible opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions on topics spanning from residential care, CHSP/HCP, regulatory reform, to built design. Our conversations centred around our innovative model and the benefits it has for everyone who lives in, works at, and visits our community as well as the significant benefits it can provide government and the larger health system. Our model is more than just an idea – it is a transformative approach that promises significant benefits across the board. This visit was a crucial step in demonstrating the potential of our model and the positive impact it can have on different communities nationwide, not just aged care. 📢 Call to Action: Are you passionate about the future of health and aged care like we are? We believe in the power of innovation to bring about meaningful change - but we can't do it alone - here is how you can help: 1. We invite you to reach out, connect with us and be part of our journey of change 2. Learn more about innovation and change makers in the sector, like NewDirection Care and our MICRO TOWN® model 3. Advocate for change across all levels of government. Speak to your local council, state and federal representatives as well as elected ministers. Share what you have learned and secure ongoing support for organisations like us, who are making a real change. Together, we can make a difference. Let's continue this important conversation and work towards a brighter, healthier future for all Australians. #newdirectioncare #innovation #agedcare #advocacy Tania da Fonseca, Kristian Mahony, Alyssa Jenkins, Angelene Duncan, Anthony Albanese Mark Butler Anika Wells Bill Shorten Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Janet Anderson Aged & Community Care Providers Association Tom Symondson Roald Versteeg Ian Poalses Ian Yates AM The Hon. At Plena, we’re here to help people live more healthy, happy and independent lives. We understand the balancing act required by aged care providers in meeting the varied needs of residents, while also meeting their regulatory obligations. We believe all Australians living in residential aged care should have the right to access allied health services to improve and maintain the quality of life that they deserve. We will continue to partner with leading aged care providers to facilitate access. The Plena Care Pathway balances commercial goals with clinical benefits, not only delivering outcomes to meet business objectives now but also enabling providers to be future-ready. In the vast expanse of community health, there exists a cadre of unsung heroes, quietly toiling away on the frontline, their efforts often unnoticed by the world. Do you know who they are? Have you ever crossed paths with one? The term "cadre" might not immediately resonate, but these individuals are the beating heart of public health. Picture this: amidst bustling communities, they stand as pillars of strength and compassion, dedicating their days to serving those in need. They are the ones who tirelessly bridge the gap between healthcare providers and families, offering solace and support where it's needed most. In the intricate game of public health, they are akin to the humble chess pawn - the first line of defence, the guardians of well-being. Their duties are as diverse as they are essential, from conducting vital screenings to spearheading crucial interventions like malnutrition monitoring. But amidst their noble endeavours, one must pause and ponder - do we truly give them the credit they deserve? Do we, as a society, offer enough support and acknowledgment to these local heroes? Imagine a world where every child under the age of five and every expectant mother receives the care and attention they deserve. It's a vision fuelled by the tireless dedication of these community health post cadres, who strive to make it a reality each and every day. So, let us take a moment to reflect. Do we shower them with enough appreciation? Do they receive the backing they need from both communities and governments alike?
