BIFA is aware that there have been delays and diversions affecting in particular the movement of certain animal related products from Germany. On the 15th January, the Association became aware of long delays at Sevington where trucks were diverted and mainly meat, dairy and similar products were offloaded. In Calais, trucks carrying similar produce were stopped prior to being allowed onto the ferry to the UK. Follow the link for more information: https://ow.ly/TjLK50UHv74

#TradeTuesdays | The UK and Philippines are strengthening agricultural partnerships. Last November, the UK government met with the Department of Agriculture to focus on tackling animal diseases, addressing anti-microbial resistance, and improving market access. With growing opportunities in meat trade, the UK remains committed to fostering strong ties through better trade policies and market access. Supported by the Bureau of Animal Industry and Philippine Association of Meat Processors, a UK delegation visited the Manila International Container Terminal - Veterinary Quarantine Station and explored the local retail scene. If you’re a Philippine meat trader and importer, expand your global portfolio with the UK. Connect with us at dit.manila@fcdo.gov.uk.

Last year we as EFPIA launched the rocket 🚀 for our journey to deliver on the 👉🏾 Commission Roadmap to Phase out ⏳ Animal Safety Testing for Chemicals, sorted our animal work into 🗑🗑🗑 and agreed on the achieved 🙌. Today we presented the results to our stakeholders from EMA, EC and NGOs, obtained positive feedback 👏🏽 and discussed next steps to proceed with the exercise. Our industry provided full transparency 🔎 about study types that we do not want to execute any longer but are still mandated by some countries outside EU although providing no scientific value (B1), those that have immature alternatives that require further development including qualification or just hypotheses for replacement exist (B2) and those that we cannot imagine solutions for today, but hope to find ways to replace them in the future (B3). Study types of B2+B3 additionally require further refinement of procedures and housing standards to avoid negative impact on the wellbeing of all our remaining animals 🐭🐟🐵🐶🐷🐰🐹🐶🐔🐑.
