The Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) has set an all-time record as BHP’s Adam Lancey addresses attendees with a message for the resources industry. With over 30 years under its belt as Australia’s largest regional mining event, QME welcomed over 5000 visitors to Mackay Showgrounds over three days this week, with over 300 exhibitors and 29 seminar sessions. The QME Seminar Series, sponsored by Komatsu, opened with a keynote by Federal Resources Minister Madeleine King who covered the importance of Queensland’s resources sector and its strong future ahead thanks to growing interest in the state’s critical minerals. Peel Mining Limited Secures $6.5M Farm-In Deal for Curnamona Project Exploration (ASX: PEX) Peel’s Technical Director, Rob Tyson, shared his enthusiasm about the deal: “In recent years, Peel has assembled a major land position in the Curnamona with the view that the prospective rocks have potential to host a Tier 1 deposit, akin to the giant Broken Hill lead-zinc-silver orebody. Previous limited historic drilling at the Curnamona tenements has intercepted occurrences of Broken Hill type mineralisation, an indication of the potential that could be lurking beneath the cover.” “The Anabama tenement in South Australia contains the underexplored namesake Anabama copper prospect and here Peel sees good potential for the discovery of a large scale, near surface copper deposit. We are very pleased to welcome Red Hill Minerals as our strategic partner to explore these highly prospective Broken Hill tenements, along with advancing a proven copper target at Anabama. Just in time for PDAC, we are delighted to be able to report that the amended Closure Plan for our #nickel, #copper & #PGM project at Crean Hill has been filed with the Ontario Ministry of Mines. This will allow us to commence our Advanced Exploration plan, which includes a surface bulk sample and development of a ramp from surface to perform test mining. Impressively, we have managed to file the Closure Plan within 15 months of closing the purchase of the Crean Hill property in November 2022, empirical evidence (if it were needed) that #Sudbury is, in our opinion, the best jurisdiction in North America, and possibly the world, to build a mine. #batterymetals #criticalminerals #Sudbury https://lnkd.in/edBeS5uS

via Mining.com.au A completed Scoping Study shows Black Canyon Limited’s KR1 and KR2 mineral resources within the Balfour Manganese Field will generate “attractive financial returns” based on a 16-year mine life with an average mining production rate of 3Mtpa. The Scoping Study shows the project could produce 12 million tonnes of manganese concentrate over the life of mine (LOM). The Australian #manganese developer and explorer reports the $84 million capex project has a pre-tax NPV of $340 million (8% discount rate) and pre-tax IRR of 70% with a payback period of less than two years. LOM revenue is projected to be $2.781 billion with EBITDA of $654 million and an average annual operating cash flow of $46.1 million.
