Just letting everyone know that our offices will be closed from 5pm this Friday 20 December and will reopen on Monday 6 January 2025. Wishing you all a fantastic break, and we’ll see you next year! With 2025 fast approaching, it’s important we reflect not only on what we have achieved as a #SocialEnterprise this year but also on the continuous growth and development of our young #Neurodivergent #Data analysts. Watching our people grow as they learn and evolve in their careers has been a rewarding experience that signifies the impact of our commitment to workforce participation for disadvantaged Australians. Let's take a moment to reflect on some of the outstanding achievements we have accomplished together this year. We’ve had many analysts transition their employment to inclusive organisations such as ACCIONA AU & NZ and NGIS. We’ve been recognised both in Australia and internationally for our work, raising invaluable awareness of #NeurodiversityInTheWorkplace. This includes a well-deserved gong for our CEO, Geoffrey Smith, who was awarded the 2025 Queensland Australian of the Year by the Australian of the Year Awards. We want to thank our supporters and clients for their unwavering support. Their commitment to our shared objectives has been pivotal in propelling us forward, and we express our heartfelt thanks for their invaluable contributions. Thank you all for being a part of this incredible journey, which only started in 2020. Here's to celebrating the triumphs of the past and embracing the promising future. Let's take a moment to reflect on our 2024 journey with the slideshow below! #SocialEnterprise #SocialImpact #SpatialAnalytics #GIS #GeographicInformationSystems #DigitalEngineering

New insights on digital and social inequality across Western Sydney. Thrilled to share insights from our comprehensive research report on digital inequality in Western Sydney, conducted in collaboration with the NSW government. This landmark study, forming a part of the Western Parkland City Digital Equity and Inclusion Insights Program, unravels the digital divide's impact on diverse communities in the Western Parkland City (WPC). Project led by Sharon Parkinson, with Anthony McCosker, Julian Thomas, Meghan Lodwick, Indigo Holcombe-James and support from Lucy Valenta and the wider ADII team, and Seldon Coventry and Sandy Burgoyne from Smart Places Programs. Read at https://lnkd.in/gcVSUmCV Key Findings: * A noticeable digital gap exists in Western Parkland City, with a digital inclusion score of 69.6, lagging behind Greater Sydney's 76.4 and the national average of 73.2. * Digital exclusion impacts a significant 30% of WPC residents - and some areas far more so than others. * Notable Access gaps include Fairfield, the Blue Mountains, and Hawkesbury. * Digital Ability varies greatly, with Blue Mountains, Wollondilly, Fairfield, and Hawkesbury showing the most considerable gaps. * Affordability challenges are pronounced, particularly in Fairfield, Campbelltown, and Liverpool. Urgent Needs: * Fairfield emerges as a critical area, facing the highest rate of digital exclusion in WPC. * Across WPC, each LGA has segments of 'excluded' or 'highly excluded' residents, and interventions need to be tailored to their circumstances and needs. * Demographic and geographic factors, along with affordability stress, are key drivers of digital inequality. The Road Ahead: The report not only identifies the gaps but also paves the way for targeted actions to bridge the digital divide. Although it’s sometimes considered part of the problem, leveraging smart city infrastructure, responding to community needs, creating better digital access, affordability and skills support, can unlock potential for prosperity and inclusive growth. This has been collaborative effort. Thanks to the councils, The Parks, Transport for NSW's Smart Places, Cities and Active Transport, and all stakeholders for their dedication to this initiative, and the digital inclusion team at Swinburne University of Technology and RMIT University, and Telstra for their support of the ADII. Let's continue to talk about this issue! Eager to hear your thoughts on how we can further bridge the digital gap. #DigitalInequality #WesternSydney #DigitalEquity #SmartCities #SmartPlaces #InclusiveGrowth #ResearchInsights #Collaboration #NSWGovernment

Ever wondered how we measure the social value impact of The Award? 📏📊 As incoming members of the World Bank’s @S4YE_Coalition Impact Portfolio, the first and only Non-Formal Education and Learning focused partner, our research department teamed up with S4YE on a Knowledge Brief that highlights our method and shares useful insights for other youth organisations. In using social value approaches, youth employment programmes can capture and quantify the full range of outcomes and impacts that they create, such as; • improving health • reducing poverty • enhancing social cohesion • contributing to sustainable development. The Foundation's Research Analyst, Sigrid Grosseth, said: "Social Value research has revolutionised The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation’s approach to impact measurement. Through uniting the efforts of Award staff, participants, and volunteers worldwide, we have been able to amplify stakeholder voices while quantifying the Award’s impact and have gained a deeper understanding of the Award’s global significance." ➡️ Read more: https://ow.ly/JIym50R8jTp Solutions for Youth Employment (S4YE) #YouthEmployment

This one has been a long time coming… Last week the British Council published the latest installation of its flagship 'Next Generation' research series. Next Generation UK 2024 explores the aspirations of young people aged 18-30 across the country, the pressing issues they face, and how they view their (and the UK's) place in the world. This was a great piece of research to deliver over several months with colleagues in the Public & Corporate team at Savanta (Anita Pavic, Nastassja Carr, Tom Shelley, Josephine Hansom, Harry Furphy, Caitlin Kilpatrick). Not only was it fascinating to produce a snapshot of young people’s hopes and concerns in such a tumultuous period, we also took an innovative, collaborative approach to research design. We recruited Peer Researchers – young people who could have participated in the research – to work with us for the duration of this mixed-method project, from co-designing the survey questionnaire, to observing focus groups, to contributing to analysis. Their presence ensured the research was informed by, and grounded in, the lived experiences of young people from all four nations. In a country of four nations, with a culturally diverse population, there's no single 'youth perspective'. Each of the young people we surveyed and spoke to had individual views and experiences. But a few themes stood out: → Young people see financial security as crucial yet elusive. This has created a forced resilience which, while admirable, has troubling implications for individual and societal wellbeing in the long-term. → This generation is redefining community. Moving away from traditional, place-based notions of community, young people are forging connections based on shared interests, values, and online interactions. → And, finally, a figure I found affirming as someone who has gained so much from living overseas: 72% of 18–30-year-olds are open to living and working abroad at least temporarily.
