Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of attending the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK networking event, graciously hosted by Hästens Beds. This provided an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow members from a variety of industries and formally introduce Autolomous as one of the newest members. We are grateful for the chance to share our insights and learn from other innovative companies. Another consolidation in the registration for large events business. There are fewer players now but seeing the old Experient and CDS as one provider is certainly interesting to witness. This will be a powerful offering for sure!

Do you want to do business in Live Events? Do you want to do short term business? or long term? If you want to do business with someone, put money in their pocket. What do I mean by this? Shouldn't we always be trying to get the absolute best possible deal we can get? shouldn't we watch every single penny? You can push, be strong, tough, and negotiate a deal that is profitable and killer for your team, but if it is so one-sided that the other party doesn't make money, they won't be back and we all need repeat business. That kind of deal is tailor made for the "short term" approach. I've always looked at the long game myself. Cut a deal that leaves something on the table for the other party and they will keep coming back for more. They will even promote you to other businesses who will want to be in business with you as well. The same holds true with experiences. Give people value for their money and they will keep coming back. Be fair, make money, but don't get things to the point where people say "I CAN'T go". Fairness and patience are a great combination. How do we balance getting the best deals we can get and making money? This is the ART of business. This is the challenge. Relationships matter. Every study out there will tell you that it is far easier to do more business with people you are already doing business with than it is to gain new clients/business. Value those relationships, be grateful they are doing well, but be fair. Don't be a pushover, and sometimes vendors get a bit too comfortable and think they just automatically have your business. Never hurts to shop around and make sure things are competitive. The vendors need to stay hungry, they need to EARN your business each day, but if they do, stick with them. A fair deal that has longevity > than a killer one time deal. Yes thats my picture on this im going next week, never thought of myself as a thought leader, just a warts and all average Joe sharing the love for what we do, The secondary market has often been derided and regarded as the unattractive underbelly of the new retail market or official channels. However, the fact is that the people involved in the secondary market are often former channel professionals or serious experts who chose this path over traditional channels. The secondary market is just as important as the new retail market, despite attempts by major players to downplay it over the years for their own reasons. This market has always been thriving. While there are bad apples in every sector, organizations like ASCDI and UNEDA promote business ethics to ensure safety for their customers and internally police their members. Engaging in bad business practices is counterintuitive, and our aim is to conduct business in a good and honest way. If this also means we help the environment, then it's a win-win. The majority of those involved in the secondary market are genuinely committed to being the white knights of environmental sustainability.
