They have been awarded a $323,001 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), specifically the National Institutes of Health and the NIH National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. This funding will support their groundbreaking work on developing an oral KCC2 potentiator, AXN-027, as a novel anti-epileptic drug for mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE). AB Science Receives European Patent for Masitinib in Sickle Cell Disease Treatment AB SCIENCE USA, LLC announced that it has received a notice of allowance from the European Patent Office for a patent covering the use of masitinib, an oral therapy in development, for treating sickle cell disease (SCD). This decision follows promising preclinical data showing masitinib’s potential to prevent vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) and improve survival rates in a mouse model. Additionally, the therapy was found to protect against acute lung damage and inflammation, common in SCD complications. "Masitinib represents a promising new approach to addressing sickle cell disease and its severe complications, such as acute chest syndrome, which frequently leads to chronic lung issues and hospitalization," stated Dr. Olivier Hermine, MD, PhD, president of the AB Science scientific committee and head of Necker Hospital’s hematology department. Resolution Therapeutics today announces key data presentations with The University of Edinburgh at the EASL | The Home of Hepatology's Congress 2024, held in Milan, Italy. Presented in two posters, the data highlights the significant potential of macrophage cell therapy for advanced liver cirrhosis. The first poster reveals new data from the MATCH Phase 2 study, showing continued excellent safety and efficacy with autologous non-engineered macrophages, providing clear clinical proof of concept for this therapy as an effective and durable treatment for advanced liver cirrhosis. Resolution Therapeutics, holding exclusive rights to the technology and data has also developed a platform to engineer and cryopreserve autologous macrophages with a pro-regenerative phenotype for treating #ESLD. The second poster showcases an improved differentiation protocol and a more automated process to maximize manufacturing yields without compromising the phenotype. New preclinical data demonstrate dose dependent positive impact on reversal of pulmonary vascular remodeling by Cereno Scientific’s novel HDACi CS014   Studies of CS014 were conducted in a well-established preclinical model of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). This model exhibits many features in common with the clinical disease, including pulmonary vascular remodeling and fibrosis. Importantly, the model also exhibits so called “plexiform lesions”, a pathophysiological hallmark feature of PAH.   The study demonstrated that CS014 induced a robust, dose dependent reversal of the pulmonary vascular remodeling in this preclinical PAH model. This included statistically significant reductions in small artery vessel occlusion, plexiform lesions and small vessel related fibrosis.   Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/dEj5d_PW

Check our latest publication that aimed to compare the levels of plasma neurofilaments (pNfL), according to three widely used chemotherapeutic agents (paclitaxel, brentuximab vedotin, oxaliplatin) and the severity of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neurotoxicity (CIPN). We also sought to explore the association between CIPN and pNfL after completion of chemotherapy to investigate its usefulness in the follow-up of patients suffering from CIPN.
