■ In addition to Mayor Mike Josef, the Automobile Club of Germany, which was instrumental in hosting the very first IAA in Frankfurt in 1900, has also voiced its support. The event took place in Frankfurt every two years from 1951 to 2019 before relocating to Munich in 2020 as the IAA Mobility with a revised concept.
■ The decision by the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), the event's sponsor, regarding the location for the period following next year's event is still pending. However, AvD President Lutz Leif Linden has expressed support for the proposal. He noted that interest in automobiles remains strong. "The AvD believes that the city is ideally suited to host the trade fair again in the future due to its existing infrastructure and extensive experience. ■ Additionally, the Frankfurt trade fair company demonstrated its capabilities this year with an extremely successful Automechanika, featuring more than 4,200 exhibitors from over 80 countries. We would wholeheartedly welcome the return," Linden stated.
■ Meanwhile, Munich politicians are expected to decide in the coming days on the potential relocation of exhibition areas from the city center. This concept initially garnered the VDA's approval but has recently faced growing criticism. According to the AvD, "given the changed circumstances, a new decision could favor Frankfurt."
