Japan's annual electronics show, CEATEC, began on October 15, 2024, at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Co-hosted with the Japan Mobility Show Bizweek, the event fosters collaboration between the electronics and automotive sectors, highlighting the integration of advanced technologies like AI and connectivity in vehicles. Organizers aim to drive cross-industry innovation through this partnership. AI is a central theme, with nearly half of the 800 tech exhibitors showcasing AI-related products. Kazuhiro Tsuga, head of JEITA and chairman of Panasonic, emphasized the role of AI in problem-solving. Key exhibitors include Toyota, with a portable hydrogen tank for emergency power, and Panasonic, displaying efficient perovskite solar cells for electric vehicles. Sony presents a vehicle safety system that uses advanced image sensors for monitoring driver alertness. In AI innovations, NEC Corp. unveiled a service that summarizes movie content, useful for insurance and documentation purposes. TDK Corp. introduced a semiconductor that mimics human brain structures, significantly reducing energy consumption in AI applications. Renault Group’s Software République, an open innovation ecosystem for intelligent, secure and sustainable mobility, unveiled the “U1st Vision” (You First Vision) concept. This innovative technology demonstrator features its vision of services which are “closer to the citizen”, by offering them easy access to a range of various customized and secured proximity services. The “U1st” demonstrator is made up of 2 parts: a multi-service self-contained module (“pop-up”), delivered on an electric light commercial vehicle platform (FlexEVan), which brings together innovative technologies from the 7 members of the Software République and its partners on this concept. Multiple services such as healthcare, civil self-service support, bike repair and electrical goods recycling services could be offered to citizens via these self-contained modular units (“pop-ups”) requested by local authorities. As part of its “U1st Vision”, the Software République also includes a comprehensive planning, monitoring and services management tool for public actors and private service providers. https://lnkd.in/e34miy2E
