In recent years, there has been a significant decline in the number of supply chain start-ups appearing in Europe. According to Mathias Bosse, compiler of the Supply Chain Tech Report, one of the reasons is that companies are currently less inclined to serve as launching customers. However, he expects the rise of generative AI to lead to a new wave of tech companies. Supply Chain Media BV’s annual Maturity Matrix contains a number of these new start-ups. The market of tech companies in logistics and supply chain has really taken off over the past decade. “Corporate executives and investment funds started to realize how super-important supply chains actually are for the economy, and how vulnerable they are to disruptions and other forms of uncertainty,” explains Bosse, who is also the founder of German company Prequel Ventures, which invests in supply chain start-ups. “At the same time, there are lots of smart people with innovative ideas and technology to meet these pressing needs in the supply chain. Not least because existing supply chain systems at companies are no longer adequate. For supply chain planning and execution, companies still work a lot with Excel and get far too little added value from their large amount of data.” For the seventh consecutive year, Supply Chain Media has published this Maturity Matrix of European start-ups and scale-ups that are up to five years old. This maximum age means that some start-ups and scale-ups automatically disappear from the list every year, even though they are still in the market. The maturity of these young companies in the matrix is based on age, number of employees, awards won, number of customers and, most importantly, capital raised. The overview separates start-ups from scale-ups, mainly based on a minimum financial funding of €2 million. As per The Wall Street Journal many Logistics Technology Startups are struggling to survive. As per me the core issues affecting these logistics startups include a saturated market with too many players, a lack of genuine innovation with several companies merely imitating existing models, high operational costs, and the reliance on unreliable data, often sourced through website scraping. The complexity of shipping logistics, coupled with the fact that carrier technology is not uniformly advanced, adds to the challenge. Additionally, most Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs) are not technologically equipped, and the presence of fly-by-night operators further complicates the landscape. However, amidst these challenges, end-to-end platforms like Logi-Sys, #cargowise are continuing to innovate and solve real-world logistics problems. These platforms stand out for their ability to provide comprehensive solutions, from tracking and managing shipments to optimizing supply chains. Their innovative approach has not only attracted investment but also garnered significant customer interest. Furthermore, these platforms have demonstrated high stickiness, indicating strong customer retention and satisfaction. The way forward for these logistics tech startups lies in collaboration with established industry players. By leveraging the expertise, customer base, and trust that companies like Softlink Global have built over the years, these startups can enhance their offerings, ensure data reliability, and ultimately, fortify customer loyalty. Such partnerships can infuse much-needed innovation and stability into their operations, steering them away from the brink of redundancy and towards a path of sustainable growth and relevance in the logistics sector. click below to read full article https://lnkd.in/dNxmqMBf #startup #startupfunding #logistics #supplychain #freightforwarding #visibility #tracking #technology #innovation

Supply chain management remains a stubborn problem for many mid-market companies that can’t afford SAP or lack sufficient IT resources to manage a complex program. Didero, an early-stage startup, decided to build an AI-fueled tool to make it easier on them. Today, the company announced a $7 million seed investment. Didero also announced that it was emerging from stealth and making its product generally available. Their tool aims to find suppliers, negotiate contracts, manage purchase orders, produce invoices and make payments, all while providing detailed analysis and handling background supplier management tasks. Tim Spencer, Product Lead and Co-Founder, said “We are trying to build an end-to-end suite that allows procurement teams to manage their suppliers across a range of existing point solution markets". He further states thats “One of the huge unlocks here, particularly for our wedge of mid-market manufacturers, is AI. Because in the pre-AI world, it was basically not possible to do a lot of these tasks (in an automated way)". Congrats to Didero! 👏 https://lnkd.in/gTgiQxXe #Didero #Investment #AI #SupplyChainManagement #Startup #Procurement #ProcureTech

I'm thrilled to share that HEALE Labs has received a strategic investment from Venture 53, a seed and early-stage investment firm focused on the supply chain. This funding will accelerate our go-to-market plans for HEALE’s logistics technology, which creates a real-time open and decentralized data network for shippers, brokers, carriers, and drivers. 🚚💫 As highlighted by FreightWaves reporter Grace Sharkey 🚛🤖💙 in her recent article, Venture 53's support combines capital with strategic support to drive our vision of solving the logistics world’s bad data problem. Our open network acts as a single source of truth with accurate, relevant, and up-to-date information, fostering trust and collaboration in our industry.💹🌐 I'm grateful for the vote of confidence from Venture 53 and their belief in our mission. As Venture 53 partner Pat Martin noted, "Web3 and AI have a meaningful role in the future of logistics, HEALE is paving the way for this future where seamless, transparent, and efficient operations are standard." With this investment, we'll continue to advance our cutting-edge technology and drive adoption within the industry. I'm excited about the future and our potential to revolutionize the logistics industry. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey towards a more connected, efficient, and prosperous ecosystem. Read the article: https://lnkd.in/eZi2xtSb
