YOU DID A GREAT JOB! I spent this afternoon volunteering at Girl Child's elementary school for their annual Field Day. Hoop tosses, tug-of-war, sack races, etc. I was in charge of the cornhole station. Many of the kids were shy or hesitant, and became frustrated if the first toss wasn't a point. So, I started cheering them on. "Great job, buddy!" "Way to go, girlfriend!" "You did great! Go try again!" If they made a hit, I whooped and hollered. Did a little victory dance. Ran over and gave them a high-five. Pointed out their success to their teacher. The kids bloomed. They smiled. They laughed. They came back for more high-fives. They came back to try again. They cheered themselves and each other on. And standing there under the hot Florida sun cheering and dancing and whooping, I realized something: Everyone likes to be told they're doing a good job. (Okay, maybe not everyone. But, like, ... almost everyone.) Sometimes, we only cheer each other on when we really knock it out of the park. When we're 11 out of 10. Everything else is "doing the job." Truth, but I think a word of encouragement--or a victory high-five--when someone learns something new or is clearly trying to be better can help keep them motivated. Have you told someone they're doing a good job today? #motivation #encouragement #teambuilding #teamappreciation

At Brighton Our World, we often ponder the impactful lessons that children absorb through the simple act of giving. When children participate in acts of kindness and generosity, they're not just helping others; they're embarking on a valuable learning journey. Through giving, children learn empathy, understanding the feelings and needs of others. They discover the joy of selflessness and the fulfillment that comes from contributing to the happiness and well-being of those around them. They understand the power of community and the importance of playing an active role in it. Moreover, giving teaches children about gratitude, encouraging them to appreciate what they have and understand the value of generosity. It fosters a sense of responsibility, showing them that they have the power to make a positive change, no matter their age. So, what do children learn through giving? They learn lessons of love, kindness, and the interconnectedness of our world. They learn that even the smallest act of giving can make a big difference. At https://lnkd.in/gXYKxB48, we encourage and nurture these values in our community, for they are the foundation of a compassionate and caring society. #BrightonOurWorld #ChildrenAndGiving #EmpathyInAction #LifeLessons

At YMCA Camp Greenville, we see it every day: kids stepping out of their comfort zones, forming lifelong friendships, and discovering the strength they didn’t know they had. But what makes camp such a powerful force for personal growth? It’s rooted in three key areas: Confidence: Camp empowers kids to take on new challenges, whether it’s hiking a mountain, learning a new skill, or performing in front of their peers. Through these experiences, they build self-assurance that extends far beyond camp. Connection: In a world filled with screens, camp creates space for meaningful human connections. From team-building activities to late-night campfire conversations, campers form bonds that teach empathy, collaboration, and the importance of community. Character: At its core, camp is about values. Kids learn resilience when they face obstacles, responsibility when they care for their surroundings, and integrity in how they treat others. These lessons shape who they are and who they’ll become. At Camp Greenville, we’re proud to help children grow into confident, connected, and compassionate individuals. Every adventure, every moment of joy, and every challenge conquered is a step toward their brighter future. 💬 Parents, what growth have you seen in your child after their camp experience? We’d love to hear your stories! #CampGreenville #YMCA #YouthDevelopment #Confidence #Connection #Character #OutdoorEducation

5 years! This was the start of my fifth year as a Heart Math Volunteer Tutor! It has been a rewarding journey dedicating time each week to tutor students during the school year. Witnessing the organization's growth and success during and post-pandemic has been truly inspiring. I remember when I started, the commitment was only to be 30 minutes a week, but knowing students needed tutors still, myself and some friends opted in to tutor multiple times a week. Reflecting on this journey, I encourage you to consider: Outside of work, or your personal brand and career goals, Where are you showing up for those who may need you? #volunteering #givingback #mentorship #communityengagement

Before each season, people often have questions about what it means to volunteer as a GOTR coach. To start, you do not have to be a runner, quit your job, or have a kid on the team. Compassion and commitment are all you need to make a difference! Using our refreshed curriculum, Hello, Mountain Mover!, you’ll help girls become more confident, build healthy habits, and positively impact their community! Share your unique skills this season as a leader to girls in your community. https://lnkd.in/ddmHUQN Alt Text: Two columns of text are arranged on a light gray background. The one on the left reads, “GOTR Coach likes to run, a teacher, likes to volunteer, wants to grow confidence in girls.” The column on the right reads, “Also a GOTR Coach, not a runner, a parent, works full-time, wants to empower girls.” Illustrated sticker-style graphics decorate the white background, including a mountain range, a paper airplane, a heart, a lightning bolt, and an exclamation point. The bright pink Girls on the Run wordmark is centered at the bottom of the graphic. #GirlsOnTheRun #GOTR #Coach #GirlEmpowerment #GOTRCoach #Volunteer #CommunityImpact #VolunteerOpportunities

Would You Rather… Wednesdays "Would you rather give a gift or receive one?" As a dad and a mentor, this question holds a special place in my heart. Watching my kids unwrap a gift or seeing a mentee light up when they’ve learned something new reminds me of this: giving is where the magic happens. Receiving gifts—whether a thoughtful present, kind words, or someone’s time—can be a beautiful reminder of love and connection. But giving? That’s where the heart grows. Giving isn’t about the size of the gift; it’s about the intention behind it. When we give, we share a piece of ourselves—our care, our thoughtfulness, our time. And the impact of that generosity often outlasts the gift itself, creating connections and memories that linger far beyond the moment. Whether it’s a toy under the tree, a word of encouragement, or simply being there when someone needs you, giving has a way of bringing people closer. And in the end, isn’t that what the holidays—and life—are really about? So, as we approach the season of giving, let’s lead with hearts full of generosity, both as parents and as mentors. Because the greatest gift we can give is ourselves. What about you—do you prefer to give or receive? #WouldYouRather #SeasonOfGiving #MentorshipMatters #ParentPerspective #LeadWithHeart #WednesdaysWithWisdom

Research suggests that when we take a few moments to focus on the good things in our lives, it can increase our happiness and wellbeing. We discuss gratitude and feeling grateful with primary school pupils in Step 2 of the Hummingbird Project. Below, a pupil at St Gabriel's CE Primary School in Rochdale shares their thoughts. What are you most thankful for? Let us know in the comments. 🙂 #learningwaystofeelhappier #HummingbirdProject #positivepsychology #positiveeducation #childrensmentalhealth

Do you make generosity a "family thing"? Often, we think of family bonding happening through shared experiences on a family vacation or a longstanding holiday tradition. In actuality, it also happens (perhaps more powerfully) in the day-to-day. Intentionality in our regular rhythms creates a sense of belonging and connectivity. This December -- the month when over 30% of all giving happens -- consider giving as a family. Maybe you give each child an amount to give away. Maybe you involve older kids in major giving decisions. Perhaps you give each family member $20-$100 and look for people to bless (try the grocery store, laundry mat, gas station, etc.). My challenge to you is to integrate generosity into your family bonding activities. With intention. I'm confident it will yield good fruit and sweet memories. #generosity #family #leadership

Absolutely love this reminder to celebrate every step forward, no matter how small 🌟 Reminds me of a recent Forbes piece where an influencer said growth thrives on recognition and encouragement. It’s all about lighting that spark within others to keep the momentum. Big cheers for spreading positivity and cultivating a culture of appreciation! 🙌 #GrowthMindset #PositiveVibes
