Data Analyst Investigator/Cyber Security Investigator Job Title: Data Analyst II Location: Bellevue, WA Duration: 7 months Summary: The main function of a data analyst is to investigate user and business compromise at Client, build data pipelines, and Client new attack patterns and behaviors. Responsibilities: Lead the understanding of compromise in business products, including product vulnerabilities and process gaps, through data analysis and deep investigation. Play a central role in mitigating abuse on Client business products. Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams to inform strategic investment and develop solutions to mitigate and prevent future abuse at scale. Analyze large datasets to identify meaningful signals and patterns that correlate with fraud and abuse. Develop and maintain data pipelines and detection rules that help measure and catch abuse. Reverse-engineer scaled attacks and perform tactical mitigation of ongoing abuse against client business products through rapid prototyping of investigations workflows and enforcement rules. Investigate networks of malicious actors for on- and off-platform disruption. there might be instances that require meetings and/or work outside of prescribed hours to account for collaboration with global teams in different time zones Job Responsibilities: • You will collaborate on a wide array of product and business problems with a diverse set of cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance and others • You will use data and analysis to identify and solve Client Integrity's biggest challenges • Write SQL and Python to understand user and business compromise system. Write pipelines to measure progress against integrity goals • Client and Identify new attack patterns and behaviors • You will influence product strategy and investment decisions with data, be focused on impact, and collaborate with other teams Skills: 2+ years of experience performing open-ended analysis and developing practical business insights and recommendations. 1+ year of experience performing data analysis and building data pipelines, queries and reports with SQL or other languages/tools without dedicated data science support. Demonstrated experience working with Python, PHP, R, or similar scripting languages for ad-hoc analytical tasks. Ability to think critically and qualify assessments with strong presentation, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to own projects independently, navigate complex problem areas and cross-functional teams with little supervision. 🚀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲: 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗤𝗟 🚀 I'm thrilled to share my latest project where I applied advanced SQL techniques to clean and enhance a real-estate dataset. 🔍 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: In this project, I tackled several data quality issues to transform raw data into a reliable asset for analysis. Here are some key steps I performed: 1. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘀: Converted inconsistent date formats to a standardized date field. 2. 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: Used self-joins to fill in missing property addresses, ensuring data completeness. 3. 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Split property and owner addresses into individual columns for better granularity and usability. 4. 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘀: Changed 'Y' and 'N' values to 'Yes' and 'No' in the "Sold as Vacant" field for clarity. 5. 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: Implemented a CTE (Common Table Expression) with ROW_NUMBER() to identify and remove duplicate records based on key fields. 💡 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Data cleaning is a critical step in any data analysis project. Clean data ensures accurate analysis, leading to better decision-making. Through this project, I've honed my SQL skills, particularly in data transformation, standardization, and deduplication. 🔧 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗱: •SQL SELECT, UPDATE, and ALTER statements. •String functions for text manipulation. •Self-joins and CTEs for advanced data handling. •CASE statements for conditional updates. •ROW_NUMBER() for effective duplicate identification. 📈 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: The cleaned dataset is now ready for deeper analysis, which can drive valuable insights into the real estate market trends in Nashville. I'm excited to bring these skills to my next role and contribute to data-driven decision-making processes.
