✔️New England Wind Construction and Operations Plan - Approved! Today, Avangrid received full federal approval for the construction of our transformational New England Wind #offshore projects. With this critical permit in hand and all state, regional, and local permits and interconnection secured, our 791-megawatt New England Wind 1 project is positioned to put shovels in the ground as soon as next year. “Completing the federal permitting program for New England Wind is a remarkable achievement made possible by diligence of our team, the engagement of our stakeholders, and the thorough and rigorous review from our federal partners,” said Avangrid CEO Pedro Azagra. “Building offshore wind infrastructure is a complex and unique endeavor, and rightly held to a high regulatory standard. Our CEO Pedro Azagra was honored to be a keynote speaker at the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Annual Energy Summit held in Santa Fe, NM this week. Avangrid has invested millions of dollars in renewable energy in the southwest, and is committed to further development in the region, including through our partnership to explore opportunities for up to 1 GW of green energy projects within the Navajo Nation in the states of New Mexico and Arizona. The purpose of the USHCC summit is to bring stakeholders from across the energy sector together to share knowledge of relevant energy issues and to ensure the role of Hispanic business enterprises within the industry. The title of this year's event was "Empowering Hispanic Businesses in the Evolving Energy Landscape."
