– To secure profitability for marginal subsea tie-back projects, new radical solutions will be required, and it will be necessary to lift these solutions collectively and together across the industry, says John Erling Nordbø from Equinor. Equinor will present the importance of developing innovative conceptual solutions that are paramount for securing profits and achieving success in marginal subsea tie-back project development. Check out what you can expect from Nordbø in Dovre during parallel session 4: Marginal Field Development - Subsea tie back will in the coming years make up a greater part of NCS development projects to utilize existing infrastructure hence operators ILX strategies and area maturity. Some of these prospects and reserves have challenging economy and thereby will require a different development strategy to be economical and to be drained. Equinor have investigated concepts to recover such marginal volumes, by ensuring faster execution duration and lower capex investments. Enablers for such developments may be scope framing, standardized modular concepts, well solutions, reuse of equipment, project development model and team setup. Great to be out in Phoenix last week monitoring the progress of Recurrent Energy’s Papago Storage project. This 1,200 MWh project is advancing nicely in construction and is on track to start storing and dispatching power for Arizonans in the first half of next year.   Our OEM for this project – e-STORAGE – announced a major new manufacturing facility in Kentucky too that is expected to create 1,500 jobs. Great to see this.

View from the Office. Met Vidar Lie for drinks at The Landing shortly after he flew into Newark Airport from Norway. Vidar had an IPA; I had a Negroni. The Landing is a restaurant tucked into the second floor lobby at One Penn, an office building across from Madison Square Garden. It’s a gem of a place for meetings, not crowded, with free and fast Wifi, comfy sofas and giant wall screen TVs. Vidar is a project and engineering manager at Equinor, formed from Statoil, the former Norwegian state-oil company. He was visiting for work. Vidar told me about two big projects the company has been working on and the scope of both blew my mind. Equinor’s Empire Wind project is building a huge wind farm offshore in New York. It has a huge facility in Brooklyn to stage turbines that I knew nothing about. Empire Wind’s initial stage will power 500,000 homes, part of an effort to shift more production to clean energy. Equinor also has a project near Bergen to capture carbon emissions and store them in a natural vault 2,500 meters below the ocean. Let me say it again because it sounds so insane. They collect industrial emissions that would have otherwise been spewed into the atmosphere and transport them via ship to the North Sea and inject them into geological formations for storage. It’s still a pilot project, but it has the ambitious goal of significantly decarbonizing European industries. The project is a partnership with Equinor, Shell, and TotalEnergies. Every day I’m reminded that there are so many big, inspirational things going on all over the world that we don’t know about. Even in our own backyard. #viewfromoffice

Natural Power worked with OnPath Energy as its principal contractor on Mill Rig Wind Farm in central Scotland. The team was involved in ground investigation services including core borehole drilling, peatland surveys and aerial topographical surveys. This is a monumental milestone to have surpassed, which simply would not have been possible had it not been for a number of key groups: 1. the early adopters of Cure in 2018 - I recall many conversations prior to 2018 where teams would have pen drop moments of "wow, this looks great and will add a huge amount of value to our project, could you send us the run history?" then the conversation would often end, when the opportunity was for them to become the pioneers. 2. the founding and developing team - it takes a lot of courage to join an unknown small entity developing new technology on the expectation it will just work. A number of the team left comfortable employment elsewhere and took the leap of faith into DeltaTek to support the development and commercialisation of this awesome technology portfolio. 3. the partners whom have delivered this - from supply chain partners whom support the technology portfolio through to the route to market partners whom have helped access the globe with it, all have been vital for the growth. 4. the acquisition team - spring-boarding Cure onto the global stage has been a massive accelerator and has helped place this technology platform into every corner of the globe. Cure was the status quo in only one subsea market in 2022 and now it is quickly becoming that on the global stage. 5. the champions in the operators - with track record and reliable run history from early adopter belief, the technology platform has grown with champions in the major operators whom scale this global roll-out. Without their tenacity, main stream adoption would be impossible. The century has been broken, and the next one is already well underway. The Kosci Junction Project is designed to connect supply from the Haynesville, Utica/Marcellus and Fayetteville basins to markets in the southeast United States that are tied into Gulf South's existing system or served through new and existing pipeline interconnects.

🌬️ Thrilled to announce that Ramboll has been awarded the contract for the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) services for the pioneering West of Orkney Windfarm offshore wind project developed by OWPL, a consortium of Corio Generation, TotalEnergies, and RIDG.   Following our successful Pre-FEED endeavours, Ramboll's expertise has been tapped once again to spearhead the development of FEED design services. During this phase, we will develop designs for up to 125 fixed-bottom #foundations with dual options - monopile and jacket. Our role is pivotal in providing comprehensive technical insights, including assessing steel quantities, identifying and mitigating risks to be as low as reasonably possible and preparing technical requirements. This data will empower the consortium to pinpoint the optimal foundation type for the subsequent phase of the project.   Our contribution extends beyond design, as we'll aid OWPL with identifying potential supply chain options for the fabrication of the fixed-bottom foundations and providing #CAPEX estimates for fabrication. Located about 30 km from Orkney’s west coast and 25 km from northern Sutherland, the West of Orkney Windfarm will operate in waters up to 70 meters deep.
