But among all the scenarios in which drones are helping inspectors do their job, bridge inspections are unique because they straddle the line between indoor and outdoor inspections. Bridges present many challenges for drone inspections that are similar to those found in indoor scenarios. Bridges can have tight, hard-to-reach places that are hard to navigate with a drone, and the bottom of a bridge can sometimes contain confined spaces in it that are so tight, they may as well be indoors. Corridor/Linear alignment drone surveys: Crawl/walk/run/drive.. Metaphorically or Literally? What would a double digit km corridor drone survey actually look like? Its a question we get asked fairly often. Our CASA Line of sight rules will be one of the biggest influences on how we answer. It's all well and good to get a drone able to fly for an hour or more, but if our max line of sight is 500-1000m, everything is measured in 'chunks' of this. (which may be ~5mins flying) This might mean pack up and move to the next chunk for another short flight, maybe we can walk behind the drone (with a zigzag mission). If we're lucky site conditions/staffing will permit remote pilot to follow along as passenger in car. To compound the planning, often projects end up finding that instead of a big, higher performance drone, 2 smaller drones can shorten the capture window and data turnaround time. There's a whole lot of other factors that can come into play: option for terrain following, PPK, ruggedness, air portability etc etc. Often, despite a project that would initially seem too big for it, we end up back at a small drone like the Mavic 3 Enterprise.. There's definitely times its counter-intuitive. Sometimes we assume its crawl->walk->run, and we find that walking is best (metaphorically)

Time to use drone logistics for something useful. DJI FlyCart 30 Category-D model was launched a few months ago for 20+ kg load delivery solutions. South Korean researchers at Seoul National University of Science and Technology have developed a drone named “Palletrone” that functions as a “flying shopping cart.” The drone can carry goods over uneven terrain, such as stairs, by using multiple flexible rotors and human guidance via a handlebar. With an algorithm to maintain balance, it can carry up to 3 kg.
