Could electric-hybrid aircraft redefine regional mobility in North America? VoltAero has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AltiSky to assemble and distribute its Cassio electric-hybrid aircraft across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. This agreement, announced at AIR EXPO ABU DHABI, marks a significant step in VoltAero’s global expansion strategy. As part of the MOU, AltiSky will establish a 30,000-sq.ft assembly facility in the U.S., including a delivery center and advanced training complex with a flight simulator. Additionally, a network of regional maintenance facilities will support operations. Bill Minkoff, AltiSky’s co-founder and President, highlighted the practical design and reliability of the Cassio series: “Cassio uses battery technology and power output levels available today, backed by the safety of VoltAero’s dual-source electric-hybrid powertrain.” Minkoff, a seasoned aviator with 20,000 flight hours and extensive industry experience, emphasized that Cassio’s conventional takeoff and landing capabilities provide an advantage over eVTOLs by requiring less infrastructure. Jean Botti, CEO and CTO of VoltAero, stressed the importance of this partnership: “Bill Minkoff’s aviation knowledge, along with his extensive business network... provides a partner that will position Cassio as a benchmark in North American regional air mobility.” The Cassio aircraft family features three models: - Cassio 330: Five seats, 330-kilowatt power - Cassio 480: Six seats, 480-kilowatt power - Cassio 600: 10-12 seats, 600-kilowatt power These aircraft are designed for various applications, including commercial operations, air taxi services, and medevac missions. What impact will electric-hybrid aviation have on regional connectivity and sustainability? 🚁 Wisk Aero Eyes Aftermarket Potential for eVTOL Aircraft🚁 Wisk Aero is strategically considering the burgeoning aftermarket for its fully automated electric aircraft. Although the aircraft’s design intentionally limits the number of systems, creating a niche MRO opportunity, the potential remains significant. The Boeing-backed advanced air mobility startup’s eVTOL aircraft is in the early stages of the FAA certification program, with an expected service entry later this decade. At the Farnborough Airshow on July 22, CEO Brian Yutko shared, "We’ve started to think about [the aftermarket] and we’ve started to work with some potential partners in that space. These aircraft are intended to do more flight cycles than a commercial aircraft and more frequently, creating interesting opportunities for life-limited parts." Yutko emphasized the focus on the aircraft’s #batteries, noting, "It’s a lot of the value and depreciation cost of the aircraft. But there are other moving parts of the aircraft that matter." The future of eVTOL maintenance and parts replacement looks promising, opening new avenues for innovation and collaboration. #Aviation #eVTOL #WiskAero #AdvancedAirMobility #MRO #FAA #FarnboroughAirshow #ElectricAircraf #FIA2024

Lilium has started production of the advanced aviation grade battery packs that will power the Lilium Jet on its first piloted flight, targeted for end of 2024. This latest milestone represents a landmark in the development of the aircraft and follows extensive testing of #battery pack subcomponents from individual cell to stack level with a focus on performance, safety and regulatory conformity. Lilium’s battery packs are being designed to meet EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency's stringent aircraft safety requirements regarding shock resistance, heat resistance, containment, and redundancy. They are also being designed to deliver outstanding power and energy density to support a business model focused on regional, rather than urban, air mobility. Lilium has secured comprehensive intellectual property rights for its unique battery technology. https://lnkd.in/evcPTdDs #evtolinsights #lilium #liliumjet #regionalairmobility #airtaxi #germany #europe #electricaviation #

Another Fly & Drive vehicle comes to the market, but with a twist. It drives like a feisty Go-Kart and takes to the air like a waspish butterfly. The company behind it has Australian roots, but now resides in Las Vegas under the name Pegasus Aerospace Corporation. The press release says, “The world of advanced air mobility is a ferment of activity, with much technological development focusing on the use of pure-electric propulsion. Being the first to come out with an eVTOL with the greatest range, the lightest battery pack, the fastest speed, and the best economic model, has been the holy grail of aviation for the past ten years or more, but technical and regulatory barriers persist. How refreshing, then, to see a company that has an AAM offering ready in the here and now.” https://lnkd.in/epSN_GZa #FlyAndDrive #PegasusAerospace #AdvancedAirMobility #AAMTechnology #AviationInnovation #AirMobilityRevolution #FutureOfFlight

How is Eve Air Mobility setting new standards in advanced air mobility? In two recent announcements, Eve Air Mobility revealed significant steps forward: a training partnership with Embraer-CAE Training Services (ECTS) and a collaboration to build an AAM ecosystem in São Paulo. ECTS, a joint venture between Embraer and CAE, has been selected to train pilots, maintenance technicians, and ground handling personnel for Eve’s eVTOL fleet under the Eve TechCare portfolio. "This partnership underscores our commitment to safety and operational excellence," stated Luiz Renato Mauad, VP of Eve Customer Services, while Carlos Naufel, President & CEO of Embraer Services & Support, emphasized the global impact of this specialized training. On another front, Eve collaborated with Omni Helicopters International and Revo to complete a comprehensive air traffic simulation in São Paulo. Utilizing Eve’s Vector Traffic Management software, this simulation validated key traffic management services essential for safe, scalable eVTOL operations, simulating real-world constraints like airspace limitations and weather delays. With the highest number of helicopter operations worldwide, São Paulo provides a unique proving ground for eVTOL’s transformative potential. “This simulation reinforces Eve’s mission to bring safe, sustainable urban air mobility to major cities," said Eve CEO Johann C. Bordais. Both the ECTS training initiative and the São Paulo AAM ecosystem development are strategic moves to prepare for the adoption and growth of eVTOLs globally. As Eve continues to build its service portfolio and foster critical industry partnerships, it strengthens its position as a leader in sustainable urban mobility.
