Project PLATEAU, led by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, aims to create 3D models and digital twins for 500 cities across Japan by 2027, with 200 already completed. Kokusai Kogyo, utilizing Bentley software, contributes to this initiative, integrating digital city data into a shared platform for open access. This data supports smart city management and urban planning, including disaster prevention, environmental protection, transportation, and sustainable development. As use cases grow, the open data will enhance smart city projects, promoting intelligent urban management and sustainable development across Japan.

Technology is an incredible force, and it is shaping the world we live in at an unprecedented rate. From AI to modern innovations, from robots to groundbreaking medical and technological advancements, the landscape of our world is constantly evolving, and the possibilities technology creates, are endless.   Last year, I had the privilege of attending Singularity University in Silicon Valley. It was an experience that truly expanded my horizons.   The discussions surrounding emerging technologies, ethics, and their implications were eye-opening and enriching. These technologies are not just shaping our future, but altering the very essence of how we live and interact with the world around us. I walked away from Singularity University with a newfound understanding and a heightened sense of curiosity about what lies ahead.   My experience has also made me consider how these advancements affect both businesses and our everyday lives and wonder how we embrace new ways of doing things. How do we keep up with all this rapid change? It's a question that interests me and has big implications for what's coming next.   It is clear to see that emerging technologies bring so much potential to the world. Whilst it’s exciting, it also brings about many unknowns and it’s important to explore the topic holistically.   If we stay informed and connected, we can be part of shaping what's to come, we can work together to revolutionise industries, and improve efficiency and navigate through the changes it brings, together.   Exponential technology is a fascinating topic.
