Some of the Hurricane Helene Recovery Essentials. 1. Holy Bible (because you may have the opportunity to save a soul) 2. Narcan (because you might have the opportunity to save a life) 3. Devotional (because you might meet a friend in recovery while serving in community) 4. Headphones (because you will need to take a break and listen to some music, podcast, or a sermon) 5. As I shared with our team this week, "Weebles Wobble, But They Won't Fall Down!" It might be a reference that only my fellow Gen Xers understood, but it is certainly how we are responding to our second hurricane in just a couple of weeks. In the past 4.5 years of hosting my weekly Intentional Conversations Vodcast, I've cherished the opportunity to learn from incredible guest co-hosts. Unfortunately, September brought unexpected challenges, leading to the cancellation of two sessions due to illness and the aftermath of Hurricane Helen. In times of adversity, I've learned to let go of blame and accept that some circumstances are beyond our control. During these disruptions, I worried about any fallout from having to cancel. It was a valuable lesson in understanding that not every setback is a reflection of one's abilities. Letting go of the need to be perfect allowed me to embrace the reality of being human. My experience serves as a reminder that resilience and adaptability are crucial in navigating unforeseen obstacles. I send my thoughts and prayers to those affected by Hurricane Helen, hoping for their safety and recovery. 🙏🏾 #Community #Adaptability #Resilience #Learning #Vodcast #HurricaneHelen #PersonalGrowth ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ 🗳️ Commit to Voting in local, state and federal elections this year. ♻️ Please Share and Repost! 🛎️ Ring the bell icon on my profile to never miss my content. 📚Order my latest book, Inclusion Uncomplicated: A Transformative Guide to Simplify DEI, published by Forbes Books. ↗️Follow my business page Nika White Consulting 🗞️Subscribe to my LinkedIn Newsletter, Inclusion Insider 📝 Take any of my 4 LinkedIn Learning courses. 🎤 Hire me to be a keynote speaker at your next event or to facilitate an impactful learning experience at your organization.

I know what it feels like when life throws something completely unexpected your way, and you’re left trying to hold everything together. When you’re a mom and a business owner, it often seems there’s no room for things to go wrong. But let’s be real — life doesn’t care about your perfectly laid-out plans. Whether it’s a family emergency, a natural disaster, or something else entirely, the unexpected can hit at any time, and it can make or break you if you don’t know how to pivot. In this week’s episode, I’m sharing a raw, unfiltered look into a time when life threw me more than one curveball at once… From navigating a hurricane while being miles away in London to having to completely pivot a private client retreat at the last minute, I’ll walk you through how I navigated the guilt, stress, and pressure of trying to balance it all and how to trust yourself to make the right decisions when life feels like it’s pulling you in two directions at once. If you’ve ever felt like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you’re not sure how to make it through, this episode will remind you that it’s okay to let go of control, trust yourself, and lead through the storm, because you CAN handle it. Hurricane Helene hit my hometown Asheville hard and it’s completely devastated. Roads I used to walk my dog on are now unwalkable and in shambles. What’s left in the wake of the storm looks like something out of an apocalypse—thick mud, debris everywhere, and remnants of people’s cars & homes scattered across the streets. Not to mention the lost lives and countless people missing. This crisis weighs heavily on me. Seeing the impact so close to home, I remembered just how crucial it is for us, as podcasters, to use our platforms to make a difference. Mainstream news was slow to cover the full extent of the disaster, but podcasters have the unique ability to share real-time updates, amplify recovery efforts, and provide a voice for those who need help. Here’s why podcasting is so powerful in times of crisis: ⛰️Coordinating Volunteer and Supply Efforts: Podcasts can serve as a community coordination tool, helping to organize volunteers, distribute supplies, and spread information about where help is needed most. ⛰️Empathy and Connection: Podcasting is about connecting with your community on a human level. Hearing personal stories from people in a local community can help others, feel less alone in their struggles. ⛰️A Platform for First Responders: Podcasts can serve as a tool to support first responders by sharing their stories, highlighting their efforts, and giving them a platform to share essential information with the community. I’m committed to using my podcast as a tool for recovery and support in Asheville. What do you think is the most effective way for podcasters to support their communities in times of crisis? 👇 Share your thoughts below! #Podcasting #PrayForAsheville #Community #CrisisResponse #HurricaneHelene

NEW EPISODE DROP! 155. Walking on the Chaotic Waters of Life We all know what it feels like to be drowning under a pile of work or overwhelmed by difficulties beyond our control. Those moments when our emotions become overwhelming, and we lose a reference point to keep us stable. That feeling of being out-of-control is encapsulated by the symbolism of water in scripture, and that’s what we are diving into in today’s episode. Through stories from the Old and New Testaments, Dr. Mario Sacasa explores how faith can guide us through life's storms. See how these biblical images offer us hope, comfort, and a path forward through God’s grace. Mario emphasizes the importance of trust as a developmental milestone and explains how spiritual truths can anchor our emotional well-being. He also reflects on how faith helps us navigate suffering, chaos, and uncertainty, offering a firm foundation in God's presence. The episode closes with an invitation to prayer for communities affected by Hurricane Helene, and ways to support relief efforts for those impacted by natural disasters. Please visit drmariosacasa.com to listen to the episode or to find ways to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
