The next Women TechEU call opens in a few days time. Women TechEU provides financial and non-financial supports to women leading European deep tech startup and spin-out companies. The Women TechEU is a nice example of a cascade funding type project (also called Funding Support to Third Parties (FSTP) in Horizon Europe, whereby the European Commission achieves a multiplier effect by providing sufficient funding to a cascade funding project to run its own calls and award funding to beneficiaries, usually with accompanying wrap around assistance and services. In this case, the Women TechEU project will invest a total of €12M in equity-free (non-dilutive) funding support to 160 women-led deep tech European companies with accompanying mentoring, coaching and targeted training provided to each awardee. So that’s €75k to each awardee, with 4 calls launched across the 2 year duration of the project, with 40 awardees in total per call. This upcoming call is call #3 and would expect a lot of interest from across Europe. Read the call eligibility carefully so that e.g.: 👉🏻 the company applying is at the target level of progress in terms of product development (must land between TRL3 and TRL6) 👉🏻 the company applying is at the target level of progress in terms of fundraising/investment (company can’t have raised more than €1m in equity at time of application (and that includes pre-existing convertible loan notes and SAFEs) 👉🏻 Applicant women should hold a C level role in the company (CEO, CTO or equivalent) and should also hold at least 25% of the shares in the company at the time of submission 👉🏻 Applicant company must be registered for at least 6 months at time of application, but should not be registered for more than 8 years from submission date.
