🇪🇪🚛 Estonia received the initial tranche of G410 6x4 logistics trucks as part of an ongoing acquisition with Swedish automotive company Scania Group. Costing 50 million euros, the program is part of Tallinn’s efforts to upgrade the military’s mobile transport capabilities with about 265 vehicles. National Vietnam War Veterans Day is one of high importance and significance. Though long overdue, it is the day when America recognizes each and every #VietnamWar veteran, to include those who have yet to return home and are still unaccounted for. Made official through the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 and signed into law by then-President Donald Trump, on March 29 we honor the great service and sacrifice of our Vietnam War veterans through ceremonies and celebrations across the nation. The date is significant as on that date more than 50 years ago, the last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam and the last prisoners of war held in North Vietnam arrived home on U.S. soil. From February 1961 – May 1975, more than 3.4 million Americans served in support of U.S military operations in Vietnam and Southeast Asia; more than 58,000 gave their lives and nearly 1,580 service men remain unaccounted for according to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. On National Vietnam War Veterans Day, we honor and remember our Vietnam veterans for their sense of duty, unselfish devotion and courageous willingness to put their country first. It is because of their service and tenacity that VFW senior leaders continue the VFW’s annual tradition of traveling to Vietnam in support of U.S. government efforts to account for those still missing and unaccounted for, in hopes of finally bringing them home. The Puolustusvoimat - Försvarsmakten - Finnish Defence Forces will purchase heavy Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles from Patria within the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme. The Finnish Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen has authorised the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command to start a serial procurement of heavy armoured personnel carrier 6x6 vehicles from Patria. The first phase of the acquisition will include one pre-series vehicle and 20 Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace’s remote weapon stations which will be integrated in the vehicles. The acquisition will also include an option for additional purchases of 18 vehicles as well as provisions for vehicle outfitting, maintenance, spare parts, and training. “The heavy armoured vehicle variants deviate from Patria 6×6 basic vehicle variants with a higher protection rate and fire power which enables better cover for example in crisis management tasks. The heavy armoured Patria 6×6 vehicle with remote weapon systems is the end result of R&D teamwork of several countries”, says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Finland Division. On August 5, Defence Partnership Latvia, a Patria majority-owned joint venture, handed over the first Latvian-made Patria 6x6 armoured personnel carrier to the Nacionālie bruņotie spēki | Latvian National Armed Forces in a ceremony at the military base “Ādaži”. By signing a contract with Patria in 2021, the Latvian Ministry of Defence ordered more than 200 Patria 6×6 armoured vehicles for delivery by 2029. This cooperation agreement strengthens the combat capabilities of the Latvian National Armed Forces (NAF) as well as contributes to the development of Latvian defence technological and industrial base. “Over the past four years since Latvia’s involvement in the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, we have reached the most significant milestone of the project – the delivery of the first armoured personnel carrier full-cycle produced in Latvia to the National Armed Forces (NAF). With the opening of the Valmiera plant in May, we are focusing on the Latvian armoured personnel carrier order, but we are also actively working to implement other NAF capability development projects in our factory, thereby strengthening both NAF combat capabilities and the Latvian industry and economy as a whole,” stated Ugis Romanovs, Chairman of the Board of Defence Partnership Latvia and Patria Latvia. 🇬🇧 🚙 The UK Ministry of Defence issued a request for information on a potential Light Mobility Vehicle replacement for the military’s retiring Land Rover and Pinzgauer systems by 2030s. The project is part of the government’s broader Land Mobility Program that aims to replace “more than a dozen” ground vehicle types in the armed forces. The Land Mobility Program will begin accepting offers of systems in late 2025, while the selected vehicles will be announced by late 2026.

India French governments negotiating 26 Rafale marine Fighter Jet Deal 1) India and France are negotiating for 26 Rafale Marine fighter aircraft for the Indian Navy. 2) These jets will operate from INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant. 3) The home base for these aircraft will be INS Degha in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. 4) French officials from the Directorate General of Armament are in New Delhi for the talks. 5) The Indian side is represented by officials from the Directorate General of Acquisition and military officers. 6) Initial talks scheduled for May 30 were postponed to mid-June due to the Lok Sabha elections. 7) The deal is worth over Rs 50,000 crore. 8) This acquisition will increase India's Rafale fleet to 62 aircraft, adding to the existing 36 in the Air Force. 9) France submitted its response to India's tender in December last year. 10) The deal is a government-to-government contract, with India seeking favorable terms.
