Do your eyes water a lot? 😭 This may actually be a sign of dry eyes. 😳 When the surface of our eyes is dry, nerves tell our tear glands to secrete more fluid, at least in the earlier stages of dry eye disease (DED). 🚰 This is also known as epiphora. Dry eye disease can be a serious and debilitating disease. And many with eye irritation, blurred vision, and "watery eyes" may not realize they have it. Luckily there are many treatments available provided by expert optometrists and ophthalmologists. So, just know that if your eyes are more watery recently, it may be a sign that a visit to your eye doctor would be a good thing to consider! Happy Dry Eye Awareness Month! #dryeye #ophthalmology #optometry #publichealth ——————————————————————————————————— My name is Wyatt Corbin, and I am a resident physician passionate about public health and health education. *All my posts are purely educational or expressive of my thoughts and opinions, are not to be intended or taken as medical advice, and do not represent my employer or educational institution.*

“Optometrists are well-positioned to address many eye conditions in children, however, several countries limit the use of diagnostic drugs as per the latest WCO Global Survey on scope of practice,” - Dr. Yazan Gammoh, WCO Education Committee Chair This #WorldSightDay, we are focusing the world’s attention on the importance of eye care in young people. Unfortunately, because many refractive errors in children can remain undetected unless diagnostic agents are used, policies restricting optometrists' use of these diagnostic medications can delay early detection and management efforts. Our first year fellow, Hojin Lee, elicited the following findings from her monthly guided reading of this article: Key takeaways from the article include: - Less edema was observed with honey treatment - Honey dressing has anti-inflammatory effects by reducing oxidative stress and neutralizing free radicals. - Honey dressings rapidly debrides wounds, reduces malodor, and minimizes hypertrophic scarring - When using honey dressings, recommend to change the dressing more frequently due to excessive exudate What are your thoughts on using honey for wound care? #podiatry, #guidedreading #podiatryfellowship, #podiatrytraining, #podiatryresidency, #lifeafterresidency, #afterresidency, #limbsalvage, #woundcare, #fellowship, #trainingprogram, #researchfellowship, #researchtraining, #diabetesresearch, #diabeticfootulcer, #diabeticwoundcare, #diabeticlimbsalvage Michigan Medicine Department of Internal Medicine University of Michigan, Michigan Medicine, Podiatry Fellowship at the University of Michigan

Doctor: Is anyone blind in your family? Patient: Eh! God forbid. I reject it in Jesus Name. It is not my portion. I cancel every... 😅😅Relax naw. It's just a simple harmless question. 💃🏼💃🏼 Today, we will be talking about the essence of knowing your Family Ocular History i.e. the story of the eyes of your family members, in simple terms. 😁 Some of us live like we are isolated humans, meanwhile, we all come from a family with a genetic and hereditary connection. And because we are connected, some things 'run' in the family bloodline, whether you agree or not, another reason blood is thicker than water. 😁 Hence, as optometrists, we often ask 'Does anyone in the family have an eye problem? Is anyone(alive or late) blind? Has anyone done an eye surgery before? Do you know if anyone has cataract or glaucoma?" Sometimes, the reply is in the affirmative. This is not a problem in itself, the problem is not to take any precaution if you have to. Some of these eye conditions are hereditary. You must arm yourself with this information to help you keep a due check on your eyes, stay in shape, and avoid preventable vision loss and blindness, especially from sight-threatening glaucoma.😓 Find out your family ocular history today, it might save you a lot of future tears. Make your faith declarations accordingly too. It shall be unto you according to your faith. 👍 Also, remember that faith without works is dead, not everything is Ogun aye(demonic influence). Knowledge is power. 🥺 Get registered at an Optometric Clinic and get your eyes checked. I presently work at Sharpview Optometric Clinic, Ibadan, and what I do, is eye care. 💜💜 Thank you! 💞 I am Dr Oluwadamilola Tanimowo. Follow me for more tips on eye care, General body health and all-around growth and development. #theintentionalvoice #bloodthickpasswater #family #i-doc

If you’re in Eye Clinic or about to do exams, you might find this useful #Convergence can be tested with an #accommodative target and multiple times This will tell you is there is #fatigue of #insufficiency and sometimes #spasm. When assessing convergence look carefully at the corneal reflections. What we usual expect is bifocal convergence where the Corneal reflections converge equally as the light is moved towards the nose. This implies bifocal fixation and NRC, normal retinal correspondence. A small angle convergent squint may be constant on convergence, is an indication of ARC or abnormal retinal correspondence. If you’re testing convergence in an esotropia and the angle reduces and then becomes binocular at intersection of the visual axis this can be an indication of normal retinal correspondence or NRC with an esotropia. In esotropia, convergence with a reducing angle, but at the intersection of the visual access there is divergence this can be a sign of lack of retinal correspondence. If you’re in doubt it can be useful to do a cover test before convergence and use Bagolini glasses as a control so you get a subjective response to whether the patient is binocular or suppressing. Also testing convergence in elevation can be really useful in detecting early dorsal midbrain syndrome or Parinauld’s syndrome as it can bring on convergence retraction nystagmus. With special thanks to Diane M Moore 1990 British Orthoptic Journal Convergence in Esotropia Probably the best article on interpreting convergence in the world!
