What does your lunch have to do with workplace wellness? Answer : A LOT! There is no doubt in my mind that you work hard. Think about the stress this hard work puts on your body internally and externally. A few months ago I decided that from Monday - Friday I will choose to make my lunch green almost everyday. Some of my co- workers ask how do you do it ??? You may be even asking the same question. My answer…. my body is depending on my food for energy and sustainability so that I can think clearly and critically thus performing optimally. This week, in celebration of public health week 2024, I encourage you to choose 1 positive thing you will do for your body! Remember what you put inside will impact your output. Have a happy, healthy, productive week. To all public health professionals happy public health week! Let’s keep spreading positive health and wellness globally !!

Elevating health consciousness involves fostering an awareness and understanding of the importance of physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This can be achieved through a multi-faceted approach that includes education, community engagement, and personal empowerment. Encouraging regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and mindfulness practices helps individuals recognize the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Providing access to reliable health information and resources empowers people to make informed decisions about their well-being. Additionally, creating supportive environments, such as health-focused community programs and workplace wellness initiatives, can motivate individuals to prioritize their health. By cultivating a culture of health consciousness, we can promote a holistic approach to well-being that benefits both individuals and society as a whole. #magazica #onlinemagazine #health #mentalhealth #healthconsciousness

What is a 'minimum standard for wellbeing' and what happens if it's breached? Both you and I have a minimum standard for what it takes for us to be well. We also have an ideal standard for what it takes for us to be at our best. When our minimum standard is breached, wellbeing dips, which is not ideal but manageable in short instances. When our minimum standard is breached significantly and/or continuously, our wellbeing suffers greatly. There are three important things to know about this: 1. Everyone has different minimun standards for wellbeing. 2. We as people tend to be very bad at communicating our minimum standards for wellbeing. 2. We're very good at hiding how much we're hurting. The first step to knowing where each of our minimum standards is is taking the time to assess it for ourselves. Once we’ve done that we can have the conversation with those around us to find out what their minimum standards are. We can't guess at something so important and even if we could, we don't have to. We can talk to our team - individually and collectively - and find out what it takes for them to be well and what it takes for them to be at their best. Then, we can do everything in our (practical) power to not breach the former and whenever possible reach for the latter. This is the heart of wellbeing dynamics and why it is so important amongst highly functioning teams. More on this to come. hashtag #wellbeing hashtag #humanresources

Today is the final day of World Wellbeing Week, and we've absolutely LOVED sharing our insights and celebrating wellbeing with you all. But in true wellbeing style, we aren't going to share anymore learnings or tips with you, and just suggest you reflect on the week and see what you actually did to improve your wellbeing? How did you feel after it? Did you encourage those around you to focus on their wellbeing too? And remember, wellbeing isn't just something that you should focus on 1 week a year, or even just 1 day a week. It should be every single day. Make small, incremental changes each day. Put your phone down before bed 10 minutes earlier, take a short walk every afternoon, write down how you feel when you wake up... and over time they will all add up. And any one of these 5 smiling faces would love to speak with you about how we can help further improve wellbeing at your workplace, just get in touch. #WorldWellbeingWeek #Wellbeing #MentalHealth #EmployeeEngagement #EventManagement #TeamBuilding #CompanyCulture #EventPlanning #CorporateEvents #EventProfs #EventProfsUK #Retreat

If there's one thing we know to be true, it's Today. We know we have today. Forget about tomorrow, next week, or next year for now. What can you do today for your wellbeing? For me today looks like: ~ early morning walk in nature. ~ hugs and kisses with my little ones. ~ a green smoothie packed with spinach, fruit, oats, chia, yogurt and peanut butter. ~ easily forgiving my husband for waking me not once, but twice with his movements about the house last night (grumble grumble 😅). ~ getting into the deep work early so I can free up my time later for admin and less focussed work. It's only 9.30am, but today has started well. If yours hasn't you can still turn it around. What are you doing Today to support your health and wellbeing? ______________________________________ 👋 As a wellbeing specialist, I partner with businesses to make their teams happy, healthy, and high performing, to improve business results, through consulting and facilitation in wellbeing. In October, I launched a series of monthly wellness challenges in our Facebook community, starting with a goal of 150-300 minutes of weekly physical activity. In November, our focus shifts to ACTIVE BREAKS and I’d like to share this to all of you too. For those spending long hours at a desk, this is a great opportunity to incorporate movement into your daily routine. Every weekday I’ll share three simple yet effective exercises designed to add more activity to your workday. The exercises are quick, easy to follow and accessible for everyone. Encourage your colleagues to join in—taking active breaks can be even more motivating when done together! Here’s the first set of three exercises to get us started! Let’s make November a month to prioritize well-being during the workday. 🫶 Feel free to share this initiative with your network to inspire even more people to offset the effects of prolonged sitting.
