We did it, again! Black Friday is behind us, and I’m still processing what an incredible day it was. We beat last year’s numbers, which is amazing, but what stands out most to me is how we got there. The energy, the hustle, and the sense of all hands on deck—it was something special. The whole team came together, and everyone gave it their all. Was it perfect? Probably not. There were moments of chaos and last-minute problem-solving—but that’s what makes it real. That’s what makes it worth celebrating. I wish I’d stopped to take a picture or video of everyone in action, but when you’re in the thick of it, you don’t think about that. What matters is that we got the results, and we did it together. To the different TT teams: Thank you for your hard work, passion, and commitment. You made this Black Friday one to remember. Black Friday is almost here! 🖤 Even though I’m not a huge fan of the shopping day, I have some simple rules for making the day a more thoughtful and meaningful experience. 1️⃣ Shop small businesses and boutiques instead of big-box or chain stores. Support your community and discover unique finds! 2️⃣ Ask yourself: Do I really need this? Or am I just buying it because it’s on sale? Be mindful and avoid buyer’s remorse. 3️⃣ Consider gifts with meaning. Experiences or sustainable options are thoughtful alternatives to material goods. 4️⃣ Be kind to store staff. They’re working long hours under pressure—your patience and kindness go a long way. 5️⃣ Stick to your budget. Plan how much you’re willing to spend ahead of time and avoid impulse purchases. 6️⃣ Prioritize quality over quantity. Like, we’d carbo-load on Thanksgiving just to prepare for the marathon of doorbusters, parking lot brawls, and awkward run-ins with your kid’s math teacher at 2 AM in the electronics aisle? Good times. But now? Black Friday feels like the friend who shows up way too early to the party. • “Early Black Friday Deals!” …in October. • “Pre-Pre-Black Friday!” Excuse me, WHAT? • By the time November rolls around, I’m not hyped—I’m exhausted. And those amazing deals? Half the time they’re just the same price they were last week, but with more glitter on the sign. 🎇 Let’s be honest: Black Friday has lost its edge. It’s like a sitcom dragging on into its 12th season—predictable, kinda boring, and not nearly as funny anymore. So maybe it’s time for more than just a rebrand. I decided NOT to do #blackfriday this year... Someone recently asked if we’re ‘ready for Black Friday’… As an Australian business, I have to admit, we’re not quite sure how to approach these types of ‘events.’ Beyond the hype of sales and promotions, it’s a bit of a mystery, should we dive into discounts just because it’s expected, or hold back if we’re not fully aligned with it? Instead of following the crowd, I’d rather focus on what genuinely resonates with our customers here. Just because it's a big deal somewhere else doesn't necessarily mean it's right for our brand or our audience. Sometimes, it’s more valuable to stay true to what matters locally than to chase every global trend. How do other Aussie businesses feel about events like Black Friday? Are you all in, or do you take a different approach? I'm not against it, I just don't know how to connect it to my brand and customers.
