Features or Benefits—which should you focus on? The answer will surprise you. While most of you might have already chosen Benefits, I’m afraid that you aren’t completely correct. Lemme explain… You see when the previous copy legends encouraged benefits over features, they did so because the readers could associate more with the benefits than the features. This was true for stuff, like weight loss programs and info products, where the reader cared more about the effects of the product than the properties of that product. For example, people in a weight loss program only care about losing weight in the most pleasant way, anything else is secondary. However, you cannot write successful sales copy for other industries without mentioning the features. Hell, the feature might be the only thing buyers are interested in. Take the smartphone industry for example; most people want to know the capacity of the RAM, ROM, and battery before considering anything else. You can try to “dimensionalize” and "future-pace” all you want, but they won’t save your products from collecting dust if you don’t add thenecessaryy details. Heck, not even the great Gary Halbert or Joe Sugarman can save your copy without these details. So whenever you don’t know what aspect to give priority to (benefits or features), just remember it depends on the product and the prospects. Drop a comment if you’ve got any questions.
