I spent part of the holidays thinking about which LLM is going to win the generative AI video race. I played with OpenAI's Sora and watched a ton of videos people generated using Google's Veo 2, Runway, Kuaishou Technology's Kling AI and Tencent's Hunyuan. GenAI video tools could save time and money for filmmakers, but they could also unleash novel copyright issues and a flood of deepfakes, and use magnitudes more energy than text generators, which are already straining the power grid.
